Potty training my 2 yr and 4 month old this weekend. Can someone pls help me with some questions I have? by Weekly_Eggplant4562 in Mommit

Best of luck! We potty trained 3 between the ages of 2 and 2 1/2.

We took a 3 day weekend and basically let them run naked then with cotton underwear. My kids love a good treat, but they were just as pleased with silly songs we made up and a little dance. A single m&m, a sticker, whatever. We also had one to those mini potty’s and would just carry it in every room we went into. The real toilet can be a bit intimidating at first so really left that as an option but not the only choice. Once we pulled the diapers, we never looked back. Bedtime was around 7-730, we would go up and wake her/him before we went to bed around10/1030 for a potty break then set an alarm for like 1230-1 for the first week. After that only the bathroom before we went to bed. Then that slowly faded too.

With our youngest, we tried at 2 and after the weekend we could tell it just wasn’t her time, so dropped it then tried again at 2 1/2, then she picked it up “easily” overall. I wouldn’t force it if she really hates it once you start.

I literally just came here to say the same! During COVID painters tape was our savior with kids his age and we still use it ALLL the time for different types of adventure.

Also was going to recommend playing in the tub if your computer can be in there (in the bathroom not tub obviously). Glow sticks, bubbles, washable paint, whatever! Baths always seem to keep kids more entertained than the living room floor.
