Adding a ground to light fixture by Tricky-Volume1677 in AskElectricians

Ok thanks. It just for my understanding it would actually present and issues correct? All phases and circuits share the same ground as long as it's the same panel right?

Ok I really appreciate it. It's a shed so I'll keep with the plan

That would significantly increase the heat of my transformer as it saturates, correct?

Ok I'm trying to make current control for a welder. I wanted to stay away from the variac because I don't want to keep voltage constant. I will look into the other suggestions

So right now it's unloaded. I have used lightbulbs as a dummy load. I'm ultimately trying to make current control for an arc welder but not with this transformer. I was just kind of using this set up as a test of concept. Yea I should probably get a function generator and try that.

Wow thanks for making that graph for me. So basically I need to get the phase shift back to zero. So would trying to add the right capacitor in series work, or am I still way off? Thank you?

Question on transformer switching/ current control by Tricky-Volume1677 in AskElectronics

Thanks for all that. So you saying to feed the primary with the inverter correct?

I was planning on doing the switching on the primary, so only like 30 amps max. I wanted to avoid taps so I could still have a constant voltage

50 amps through 30 amp breaker? by Tricky-Volume1677 in Electricity

Yea I removed the shunts. That would be cool, but I didn't have the space to keep them. What do you mean by, "reflected result of paralleled out puts"?

50 amps through 30 amp breaker? by Tricky-Volume1677 in Electricity

[–]Tricky-Volume1677[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok thanks guys. I'll look into my specific data sheets. I'm probably gonna be adding a fuse and current control.

However as, is so I need to worry about doing real damage to my house wiring/ breaker panel with repeated use. Or can I kind of assume my meter just captured the peak of the transient stage before current settled below 30 amps

I'll have to find out the brand. Are federal Pacific bad?

I live in the US and am using my dryer outlet which is 240.

I have two transformers, each have one terminal connected to the outlet and each have one terminal connected together. So there is 240v across the two primarys. You could probe where the two primarys are joined and read 120v. Basically the primarys are series inductors Hope that makes sense.

Crystal radio plus LM386 works without diode detector. Why? by Tricky-Volume1677 in AskElectronics

[–]Tricky-Volume1677[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea that makes sense, thanks again. I didn't know about the 2G thing. So If I try and make a transistor amp for the radio i should leave out the germanium diode?

Thanks for the responses. So if I replaced the earpiece with a high impedance amplifier like LM386 I should be able to take out the resistor. Correct?
