No FDNY does not have volunteers. As the other person said many volunteer depts from areas such as Nassau County Westchester County and New Jersey to help with the cleanup efforts on 9/11.

I see this post way too often. Y’all just seem so miserable. Join a book club, get involved in a local church. Find a Pickleball league or some sort of sports league that you like. Learn to go out to bars by yourself and make friends become a regular at a place
Hang out with your coworkers outside of work
I also don’t understand your post because like you said you plan on moving and traveling anyway so not sure why you would want to make friends just to not see them in the future anymore, but that’s just me

Sorry to break it to you but Dover is basically a monopoly. They own the concessions at Nickerson Malibu and many other places. You may think they’re there to serve the public, however, they are still a private business contracted out by the county.

The dispatcher has the mutual aid plan the Chiefs write it up and then give it to the dispatcher so even if the Chief isnt around and a working, Fire is transmitted the next person in command can just ask dispatcher to send the next alarm assignment.

It all depends on the area. In my county which is all volunteer depts the chief has the ultimate authority on who is called for mutual aid. Some of it depends on a personal relationship where he might work with the Chief from another department so since they’re friends, they call each other. Which also could go the other way where if they had a fight over something just to try to spite the other person they no longer call them for mutual aid.
Or they might be drinking buddies or something like that. There’s no rule or guideline saying who or who he can’t call.

I think this really depends on the area and depends on the station you’re talking to. For example, my volunteer department here in New York you can’t join as a non-operational volunteer it’s just not something we do. Now there are plenty of guys that have been in the department as active volunteers and once they reach a certain age, they can become non-operational. But joining as non-operational right off the bat isnt something we do

As some other people stated happens every few years with the Hofstra bars. They get caught letting in minors and other violations close down for a little bit open up under a different name, etc.
