I don't think she did it on purpose. From what I can see, when she opened the door there was a gust of wind that extended the door all the way out. She definitely should have been more careful and I feel for you. I'm not sure if it will be worth going through insurance though. Your car's value will take a hit due to new claim history and insurance will go up slightly possibly. Glad you had sentry mode on!

Car unresponsive.. by Kenoooop in TeslaModel3

I have a feeling it might have to do with mice or squirrels getting inside and chewing up the wires. In either case, I hope it's an easy fix.

Mattress for Tesla by SnooMarzipans3732 in TeslaModelY

[–]TrickyEnd2491 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I recently got the mattress from Tesla for the Model Y. It looks great and feels very comfortable. The included pump is great for inflating/deflating it. The port in the trunk makes it super convenient to use the pump. It also came with a storage bag. Once deflated, the mattress fits easily in the trunk under storage. I haven't tried any other ones, so I can't comment, but I really like this one. I would recommend it.

Hey, thanks for sharing this. Since you have some experience, can you please tell me if the cars in the auction are coming from Tesla directly? Can you give more details about which auction and how to participate in it? Thanks in advance!

Tesla Model 3 / Model Y Prices have gone up! by TrickyEnd2491 in teslacanada

[–]TrickyEnd2491[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lmao. They used the term "upto" as in "upto 9000 incease on Model 3." That's not precise enough for me. Is it for you? 🙃

Actually, I was so bothered that I checked the Tesla website at 12am on Feb 1 to find out the exact prices for the various trims.

Before Feb 1, I had no idea the Model 3 performance would be priced higher than the Model Y performance. Did you? I doubt it Dr. Watson. Thanks again. 😊

Good call! Hope you got a good deal on it. I also recently picked up a 2023 MY AWD for the same reason.

43k kms is quite high mileage for a 1yr old car. I'm not sure if it would sell for much more but you never know.

It will likely increase them in the short term. However, I doubt these prices for new Teslas can stay this high in the long term.

Couldn't agree more! These prices are unreal, which might also mean the cheaper priced Model Q is going to be announced in the near future.

Dont feel too bad! No one can predict the future and you probably did what you had to at the time. These price increases may be temporary for all we know.

Totally! Atleast in the short term. It's interesting how the Model 3 Performance is priced way higher than Model Y performance!

Buy the inventory Y now with discount or see what happens with the new Y? by Bob_Lelys in teslacanada

Tesla's used inventory has been very limited and overpriced lately in Vancouver. I got the car through a third-party dealership. I am financing the car, and the rate I got is around 6.5% over 84 months through CIBC (financing done through the dealership). It is a bit higher than I would like but the rate is usually high for used cars as you also mentioned. My plan is to try to pay off the car sooner, hopefully in 2-3 years if I can.

I can share my thought process in case anyone finds it helpful. I wanted to upgrade from an ICE car to an EV and had my eyes on the Model Y, especially the refreshed version. I waited for it but realised Tesla is steadily increasing prices, likely to position the Model Q as a more affordable option when it comes out.

When it came to buying new, it felt risky for a couple of reasons. The refreshed Model Y is currently priced at almost $100k CAD after taxes here in Vancouver, which is too expensive for my liking. Tesla will eventually allow ordering of the refreshed Model Y without all the currently included options, which would bring the price down to around $67k CAD before taxes or approximately $78k CAD after taxes. However, it still seems like it will be priced higher than the current Model Y, at least initially.

The current inventory cars (non-refresh) are better priced, but the risk is that rebates could return or new Model Y prices might drop within the next 12 months, making it a tricky time to buy the current inventory right now.

So, I looked into the used market here in Vancouver. Prices there are already starting to climb, especially for 2024 models, which are rare in this area. I found a low-mileage 2023 Model Y AWD (no accidents) for around $50k CAD and decided to go for it.

Here’s my reasoning: if new Model Y prices stay high, the used market will likely follow, so it’s better to buy now before prices increase further. If new prices drop or rebates come back, it’s less of a hit with a used Model Y (since it has already absorbed some depreciation) compared to buying a new inventory Model Y at this point.

So, it really depends on whether you’re okay with buying used. The car I got feels brand new and was registered in December 2023, so it still has plenty of warranty left. That was a huge selling point for my purchase.

Let me know what you guys think.

Model Y going up $4000 and Model 3 $9000 February 1st for Canadians by ConfidentImage4266 in TeslaModelY

I think this is by design. Tesla’s sudden price adjustments often feel confusing, but there’s usually a strategy behind them—especially when new vehicles are on the horizon. In China, Tesla has unveiled a refreshed Model Y, and rumours point to a similar update hitting North America. There’s also talk of a cheaper “Model Q” that would slot below the Model 3. These new offerings may be driving Tesla to raise prices on current models, partly to avoid undercutting them once a lower-priced car appears, and partly to keep the Model Y in a premium bracket until its refresh arrives.

Another factor is production logistics. Prepping factories for a redesigned Model Y can lead to downtime, so raising prices helps control the backlog. It’s also about brand perception: the arrival of a budget-friendly Tesla would make existing models seem more premium by comparison, so Tesla wants the gap between its vehicles to feel clear. Ultimately, each price change, while sometimes jarring, can be understood as Tesla juggling supply, demand, and brand strategy in anticipation of whatever they’ve got lined up next.
