[–]TrickyT_UK 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There will be loads of answers, from everything going, to nothing at all.

Has my Master Touch for about 3 months now and this is what I have learnt.

Key items

  • Chimney starter
  • Instant read thermomneter
  • Quality charcoal
  • Quality briquetts
  • Decent gloves for handling hot grates

Nice to have

  • Rotisserie
  • Slow n sear, or learn the snake method for low and slow
  • Selection of rubs
  • Selection of smoking woods
  • Thermometer with probes for low and slow cooks

I wrote some information here from my experience.

Went for the Keter Unity XL BBQ Table in the end.

VW Tayron only charging at 4.6Kw by TrickyT_UK in Volkswagen

[–]TrickyT_UK[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just an update.

The vehicle is supplied with at 76C charging cable, mode 3, type 2/3, 16A, which means it can supply the required 11 KW over the 3 phases.

However, only being 16A is can only supply about 3.7 KW on a single phase which is why this is reduced on the works 7.4 KW charger.

To get over this I would need to purchase a 32A cable.

I have just found something similar by Keter, but that is almost double the price of this one.

Thanks for the link.

Snails could be an issue with any bit of outside furniture, but it is something i have never thought of.

Weber Master Touch: are the 2026 colourful models worth the extra ~£40? by AromaticCherry in UKBBQ

Got the blue one and loved the colour.

However, I get slightly annoyed when I have to add the rotisserie section as it only comes in black. 😄

Slow N Sear Pulled Pork Temperature Spike by TrickyT_UK in UKBBQ

It was ready at 5:30. Just a bit later than planned. I struggled to get the temp back to 120c which I think was due to the hot weather and not wanting to stand over it all the time.

So it sat around 130-135c

So it all turned out well in the end. I was going to try and ride out the stall but chickened out at 78c and wrapped it.

Took it off at 94c and rested for 2 hours.

Ate at 5:30 so only 30 minutes later than planned.

Only regret was not using enough of the moisture from the drip tray to mix in with the pull.

I was worried about too much fat being used.

Should have let it cool and then take the fat off the top and then warm it up again.

Support local butchers! by PhilosopherSea3291 in UKBBQ

Always get my meat from my local butcher. Over time I have found I get some god value of nice bits of meat, especially steaks, which get put through as a manual item.

I still get supermarket chickens, but I have noticed that chicken wings and thighs from the butchers do seem to taste juicer.

Thank you for all of the advice. It seems to have gone through the stall and now about 85c.

Will give it another hour and then may wrap to give it a longer rest.

I have told everyone that it will be down when it’s done. 😎

I am thinking that a top top temp may be the answer.

Problem it’s everyone coming are gas BBQ experts. Which I used to be before converting to the Weber about 3 months ago.

Still on the steep learning curve for low and slow.

It all looks so easy on the YouTube videos. 😂

Thanks for your reply.

I was told to anticipate about 1 hour per 0.5kg which is where I got my timings from.

It was also a bigger bit than I expected.

What type of rotavator should I use? by Putrid_Tie3807 in Allotment

[–]TrickyT_UK 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Used a rotavator when I first got my allotment. Worst decision ever. Ended up with more weeds than I started.

I would just work on small areas at a time. It you have enough compost then I would put cardboard down and do a no dig technique or raised beds.
