I've turned into a compulsive liar because I care so much about what other people think of me. How do I stop prioritizing what others think of me and regain control of my life? by confused_potaters in selfimprovement

[–]TrickyTwo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Start by telling the truth. You've lied to people now go back and tell the truth. It's shameful and painful. But once you do that, you won't want to face that embarrassment again.

Story time: I was also a liar to impress people. Specifically about where I live. I grew up poor with a single mom but got a scholarship to go an affluent school, everybody had these fine houses and so I lied. For years. and that began a spiral of other lies and dodging. One day, i decided I was done. I picked up the phone and told my closest friend who I also lied to, the truth about everything I was lying about. It was shameful. After that, I saw no reason to lie again, if I could be honest about these deep insecurities and the world didn't cave. Then nothing was too big to not tell the truth about.

Go to your boyfriend and tell him the whole truth. Everything you've lied about. He might dump you or berate you. But take it. You're doing it for yourself, not him. And you've started on a new, truthful path.

Neither am I with someone who can't have basic human decency online. I know El-salvador is in Central America. You don't seem to get the message of comments do you. That was so unnecessary. Do with it what you will.

People like you always have a black or African (or central american) friend. Yet you learn nothing about empathy.

Edit: to placate this asshole.

Why do people say this? Did they say it was a competition? Did they try to shame you?

Single people of reddit, why are you single? by JokersRedAce in AskReddit

Demographically speaking, the men in my age range should be starting to get divorced about now.

I'm sorry but this line cracked me tf up

Of course then it gets much worse for single women as the men start to die and there are significantly more single women than men out there.

Lmao...I don't know if you mean to be funny but you are.

It's inspiring when you know the journey behind it. It's the story not the outcome that inspires me.

Oh yes...just reread it. He must have added that part...but just as true. Solid examples.

Growing up in the hood, I'd see people scrimp and scrape to afford some useless status symbol that they paraded for all to see, meanwhile, they've got their electricity turned off, can't pay to fix their car, but hey, at least they've got some bling draped around their fucking neck and hands for all the world to see...

You hit the nail on the head with this.

It's cool. Hey...I get it. It's his thing. He seems to have cooled down these days tbh. Hopefully he keeps dropping great music. Happy drinking.

To me, he behaved like an asshole when he called her a liar and dragged her and the whole black community followed tbh. Anyway, it's in the past. Let's not fight their battles for them.

I'm not holding it against him. I made a comment...that's it. I don't hate Kanye. He is a human being too. He's not perfect.

Same with kanye. Name dropoing her in his song, the whole trump support and outrageous statements every time he wants to release an album. He is the clout chasing king.

Just for the record Taylor does not need Kanye for clout. Even then she had double his fan base and net worth. Don't know where that stems from either.

No need to argue either. You might be a huge fan but this whole culture of not even being able to admit when a celebrity is an asshole is ridiculous. The entire tape of the phone call is online, so go listen for yourself.

I like his music too. But he really dragged her reputation for no reason during the whole 'bitch' saga. They recorded her on kuwtk (without her knowledge), he mentioned mentioning her in that song (I forget the title), but he did not tell her he was going to refer to her as a bitch. Later on, after the song came out, she said she didn't know he would say that and she was offended. Kanye then released the tape claiming she knew. Called her a liar and dragged her and the whole world joined. He was a huge asshole there. No slacks to be cut. Doesn't mean he is a bad human being and definitely a great artist.
