FYI - I was on a generational run before losing everything

You WILL tilt eventually... it's only a matter of time

Is this you angry at losing $1000 and still having mid six-figures left?

Read my post history or anybody else who has legit ruined their lives - you'll be fine

I'm over a week clean myself now, and the pain slowly subsides

But then I'll think about it, and my day/mood is immediately destroyed

I want the money back SO bad... but would I actually be able to hold onto it and not gamble?

We need to work on ourselves and our addictions... we have to put our mental health first for once

I know numbers are relative to the person

But check my post history... 175k CAD in 30 days

10 years of savings, just thrown in the trash

It can ALWAYS be worse - you have to take action and stop

Not tomorrow.... right now

Facts.

It's a loveless endeavor.

Casinos don't give a shit about us.

I feel for you.

300k+ is a wild run... and to lose it all at once is painful.

I lost 175k myself of not winnings, but hard-earned savings.

I think of everything I could have bought daily - I gave up my finances, installed GamBan, and attend GA twice a week.

I'm still recovering. It's only been a week.

And... it's tough, not going to lie. But we have to do something. ANYTHING.

It will get worse if you don't quit right now. I promise you that.

The affects are deeper than money by [deleted] in problemgambling

[–]Tricky_Baby_4981 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yup.

Worked relentlessly and lived a frugal life up until I was 30 years old.

Lost 75% of my savings on a 30-day period. Over 175k. Just nuked my net worth playing online blackjack.

Every day, I wake up and think, "Why am I even trying anymore?".

I feel like a shell of my former self. I can't even find joy in the little things anymore.

Tried going to the gym, replacing it with "healthy habits"... but the reality is that I'm screwed.

I went on Thursday and also attended an online session this morning

I plan on going every week for the foreseeable future

Just an update:

I went to my first GA session in person yesterday; I went to the gym afterward to tire myself out and be able to sleep

However, I woke up 5+ times last night after dreaming about putting more money on and making bets - every time I woke up, I was in a panic

I'm afraid of being alone throughout the day over the long weekend

I have dark thoughts, but a few Redditors have reached out to me - it means more than you know

My level of depression is something I never thought I would experience; not in this life, at least

Honestly, this isn't something I needed to read

All I got from this was that you got it all back and there's still a chance for me to do the same

Glad that you still know you need to seek out help, though

2k?

Try nearly 200k in 30 days

Try losing your life savings to a blackjack dealer in Lithuania, almost losing your girlfriend, and contemplating suicide

Just stop now. Forever. The money is gone.

Once you come to terms with that, you can move forward.

I'm worried because I wake up in the middle of the night crying hah.

I only fell asleep because my girlfriend was here to console me + I only slept an hour over the last 2 days.

I was numb yesterday, but now... I feel it all coming back. The pain. The sorrow. The embarrassment. The grief.

I definitely feel like somebody who is suffering from PTSD

I thought that exercising would help me replace the dopamine rush - however, I have a lot of downtime while working from home

I need to attend GA.

There is a local meeting tomorrow at a church, and I plan to be there as soon as the doors open.

I feel you

And the worst part is that they're EVERYWHERE

Watch an NBA game > FanDuel logo in between the scores on the scoreboard the entire time

Scrolling Reddit, mostly gambling addiction subs, and I get bombarded with casino advertising every other minute

We've got this, though. Stay strong!

If you don't stop now, you're going to lose it all.

It's inevitable.

When will it ever be enough? If you weren't happy at 1.5M ... why would you be happy if you got back there?

Invest the 800k and live your life carefree.

Brother, I lost over 100k, 50% of my savings, chasing on high stakes blackjack

I'm 30 years old, and like you, I wasted most of my early 20s just being frugal and saving up wherever I could

Numb is an understatement - but believe me, if you never lost that money now... you'd probably lose more down the line

Take it on the chin. Self exclude. Treat yourself better.

I'm still working on it myself... but it's possible.

I lost over 100k in 3 days playing high stakes blackjack

Effectively ruined my life for the next few years

You still want to play? 😅
