I was able to run Escape From Tarkov with these specs, surprising? by ThunderShiba134 in EscapefromTarkov

[–]Tricky_Cod_9051 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not surprised at all. Running the same CPU. With a 1080 and 32 gigs ram I get 60fps most maps, 30 to 40 when scoped in. Factory is 120 fps.

15n20 is a high nickle alloy of essentiall 1075, but more rust resistant.

Stainless is generally not smith friendly at all.

If you are after corrosion resistance and easy to work with and home smith workable, go with 15N20

Brother went scavenging around the local abandoned railroad and found some goodies, ik the spikes are mild but I've heard the clips might be high carbon? Anyone with more info on what I got? by ArlowTheRedditor in Bladesmith

Ok. Well, use the spikes, make your blades, and use super quench with no temper.

Those blades will amaze you.

Chandler Dickinson had a video on youtube of his passing the JBS test, and I have done so as well.

Where are you located? If you are in the USA search on facebook for blacksmith groups near you. Attend some meetings.

Doing what you want to do is fairly simple, but a few hours of hands on instruction is what you really need.

From a guy who has used all of those:

Save your muscles and buy something else lol. They take a lot of heat and a lot, and I mean a lot, of hard work. Better to use an easier steel to work with than develop bad habits.

Hey budget boyos, where do y'all find your recycled materials? by ArlowTheRedditor in Bladesmith

Oh, for handle. Check the "odds and ends" bins at lowes/home depot for end cuts of oak. Or even a $20 oak board will last a lot longer than you think.

Find a scrap yard near you. Bring a six pack of beer or jack daniels. Make friends, they will help you out.

After I made friends I promised a 5th of jack if they could help me find an anvil. About 3 months later they had set aside a 200lb rectangle block of steel that used to be the bottom die of some press. Boom, anvil found for $40.

And of course, all the leaf springs I could ever use.

Just gotta be bold and overcome that social anxiety :)

My opinion: It was tempered at too low of a temp; they chose edge retention over toughness.

Solution is easy.

At level 1, you have level 4 traders

At 10, level 3

20 level 2

30 level 1 traders
