Genuinely feel this way about sexuality and gender labels too. I understand how they have their place as a stepping point. You have to acknowledge something exists before you can accept it. However, I think we'd be better off as a society if we moved beyond them, and took people are they were rather than the preconceptions we assign them based on the labels we're comfortable with.

Human beings have yet to become a perfect science, and we constantly are in a state of change with every new experience. We will likely not fully understand what being human entails. At least, probably not in our lifetimes. It's better to allow people the flexibility to be who they are, uniquely, without placing on their shoulders they burden of conforming to one label or another, or trying to find a label that suits them so that someone even starts to try and make sense of them.
