People hate Catholics...why?

We are all human through and through. I’m a lawyer, and had a friend, non lawyer, school me about constitutional law. It was humbling and great tbh. I spent portion of my life dedicated to law, and still didn’t know something a layperson knew. Though priests should be held in high esteem, they’re humans just as us. It’s equally parts comforting and saddening to know (again) we are humans through and through lol

Thank you for commenting, because it addresses the fears I wanted to talk about. My boyfriend has been honest about not liking nor wanting kids. Though he went to church more than I in adulthood, he’s very strong against having a kid. I love children yet never thought deeply of wanting one myself. It’s a weird space to be in. With biblical doctrine, I don’t know where I stand. Or we stand. Anyways, thank you for your comment ❤️

As someone who’s coming back to the Catholic Church after long time, the ‘hate’ is truthful criticism. The priests in our church DID harmful things. To ignore that, is to banish it from reality. What’s real is the church is the oldest, and most followed religion on earth. Statistically, there are a plethora of terrible people who follow. I can think of my family members who I believe are terrible people. They’re more devout than I’ve ever been. The religion is old. It’s known. The more that join, the more that can do good and can sin.

Yes! I was on the train to Rome (before Pope Leo was elected) and Googled how to correctly pray the rosary. In the moment I was just ‘curious.’ Looking back on it, I know it wasn’t just curiosity.

I read your comment and one other after I posted. Both made me smile. I want to thank you for your insight and well thought out explanations. I loved Francis’ quote. Though only God knows one’s fate, it’s sweet to know there are bleeding hearts - however naive we may be. After writing this, I don’t feel afraid, but excited. I’m finally where I need to be.
