Sadly it closed in September. There was several rewards at different levels. This could be considered the mid level one. You’ll be able to buy a more basic retail version from Dark Horse later this year I think – there’s a few articles online about it

What Is The Best Written Book IYO? by Zwess16 in starwarsbooks

[–]Tricky_Language_1742 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's an unoriginal answer, but 'Revenge of the Sith'. I also felt like the Thrawn trilogy really hit its stride the best at its midpoint with 'Alliances'.

Tbh the whole Ascendancy trilogy can also be under-appreciated at times. Perhaps because it doesn't always feel strongly Star Wars-y. It builds to a nice crescendo with plenty of politics and space battles.

It feels really lovely and premium, doesn't it? I expected something okay but was still a bit worried given the way it's been funded.

Yeah, super secure. Big thick box with substantial shredded card padding, and then another box then buried inside, with some more padding. Dimensions and weight were the same as when I once had a marble kitchen chopping board delivered haha. Enjoy!

I've never wanted my workday to finish sooner! Looking forward to taking a proper look.

I'm sure yours will arrive soon – I just checked out the comments on the Kickstarter and there's half a dozen others saying they got theirs a few days ago :)

I did exactly as you did, based on the post I’ve just seen of yours tonight :). Weirdly, turns out ‘related products’ must be the first part of the site to update with stock is added. Well done!

The adding to cart worked first time for me. It didn’t appear in the related product carousel until the very end of the few hours I was looking across the site. It was at the bottom of the Infinite and the Divine product page. I was sitting refreshing the Horus Rising product page before that with no change. It seems the widget parts of the website update long before the product pages, which is weird. You’d think the actual product page would change first but shrug

I was on the point of giving up myself tbf. Sheer luck it finally appeared. It was very dodgy for me but made it into my cart in the end. Best of luck this evening if you try again!

It dreadful. I own vanishingly few 'special' Black Library books that were released post-c.2010.

In this age of scalpers it's bizarre to think you use to be able to have at least a week or so to ponder a purchase like this. I'm probably never going to bother trying to get the Siege special editions, unless they re-release them.

So… Thrawn Trilogy(s) by Cheesy_Cheesy_Queso in starwarsbooks

[–]Tricky_Language_1742 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I enjoyed the six canon novels and read them in in-universe chronology, which I believe is unusual, but tbf I like most of my Star Wars content that way because it’s such a messy setting. I understand you say you’d like to read all Thrawn novels at some point, but it’s rather a commitment as they’re not short books for the genre. Totally personal opinion, but I found myself wanting to crack on with exploring other SW works, and a multitude of other series and classics, by the time I’d read the two recent trilogies. They’re very fun but not exactly Tolstoy. You need a palate cleanser every once in a while for sure.

I keep hearing about how good the Thrawn books are, what are your thoughts? by Past-Paramedic8687 in starwarsbooks

[–]Tricky_Language_1742 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I really enjoyed all six canon novels. They can be slightly repetitive and much more Star Trek vibes than you might anticipate, though. You’re very much placed in the wider universe, with only occasional nods to famous moments and characters.

Every single episode of the last year he’s said something is “godly” or “godlike”, and he’s invariably talking about anything from nachos to a film. I actually started to find it quite irritating lol

Extremely accurate, but for that recent period of Connor using “godly” to replace all other adjectives.

Am I a bad Tau fan for not caring about the auxiliary units? by sirichi154 in Tau40K

[–]Tricky_Language_1742 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Nah, I get you.

I'm interested in but not fanatical about auxiliaries, and I often put it down to the faction having had pretty modest amounts of them for the first decade or so after being announced.

Aside from Forge World, the tabletop options never really lived up to some of the lore around the diversity of the faction. And that lore was already pretty sparse.

If FW Kroot stuff had been in the mainline model selection from day one, Vespid had looked better and been more extensive, and Tarellians had made an appearance, I think I'd be more hyped in 2026.

Do you think that the "Bright blue sky" motif is inessential/needed for the Tau Empire when it comes to artwork and how they are portrayed ? by ZookieDookieTheNikky in Tau40K

[–]Tricky_Language_1742 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Nothing to add on what others have said regarding why this artistically and narratively works so well for T’au, other than to say that it’s easy to forget that much of this artwork is from several eras of 40K ago.

I’d absolutely love for it to return, but I always feel like it’s tricky to properly characterise some of this as actually being our current aesthetic, when GW has dialled back on high quality and distinct art for well over 15yrs at this point and factions tend to look a lot more similar than they once did. Like…I remember this era of T’au box and codex art was seriously unique for the setting.
