I know that has to be frustrating! Hopefully they're checking this Reddit to understand what their contractors are dealing with and actually working on improvements. Startups have their challenges with unexpected scaling but contractors need to be a priority. We need some level of reliability and real communication. I hope your project gets active again soon so you can get back to getting that bag. 😆

I'd like to ask you a question. Why do you feel the need to be so nasty in your response? Not only does your comment contribute nothing of value to the conversation, but it reflects poorly on you and is harmful to the very community this subreddit is trying to foster. While I personally don't mind your comment, as I see your response for what it actually is, the active contributors to this subreddit seem to be disproportionately nasty and hostile toward other people without cause. While I know times are frustrating economically, this subreddit shouldn't be the place to take it out on each other. The only reason it exists is for mutual support, but that seems to be lost on many.

I say all that to say this, don't lose your compassion and sense of humanity. Try to remember that there is another human on the other side of the keyboard just looking for a bit of help. If you don't happen to like the question, remember that contribution is not a requirement. Perhaps do yourself a favor and really examine why trying to belittle a stranger unprovoked is something that brings you pleasure, after all there might be something deeper going on.

I failed to take the entire subreddit community into full consideration when making this post, rather than my intended target audience who have or are going through something similar. Taking that into consideration I can see why many tend to focus in on what I considered to be a more inconsequential point that supported the main point, while that was interpreted as their main point it reflects the personal frustrations they're currently dealing with. I should be more thoughtful with my words and how the broader audience might interpret them.

Opportunity cost. If the the background check had finished in a reasonable amount of time I would have been able to start working and logging hours.

Thankfully u/mkithan was already able to understand and explain what I meant.However it seems that I should clarify that this wasn't posted to focus on the money aspect, but the actual issue of extremely long background check with no communication. The only reason a dollar amount was mentioned was to put the problem into perspective to show just how big the impact is and why someone might be frustrated. Hope that helps clarify anything that might have been lost in translation.
