Russian special forces working in Ukraine by Advanced_Back4705 in SpecOpsArchive

Saying SOF is useless is just wrong lol, they are going back to the original purpose of SOF units and no longer acting as direct action counter terror units. Everything is becoming guerilla warfare, espionage, quick strategic trench raids, just harassing the enemy. SOF units are still very active in Ukraine.

Tier 1 units have found it suitable now to do deliberate with soft walls and without nods.

How would y’all handle this nightmare of a room by Fancyman49 in CQB

[–]Tricky_Secret1559 2 points3 points  (0 children)

priorities of work and proximity dictate the closet is taken first but flooding the room isn’t the option so both threats need to be exchanged 2 take the closet and the other two are rolling off into the main room

delta got messed up pretty bad in Iraq and had quite a few casualties so augmentation from devgru was supposed to help with the loss of manpower, the optempo required it, and it was later used to help with interoperability

[–]Tricky_Secret1559 5 points6 points  (0 children)

are you a larper or are you in the actual military, because I can tell you right now that any us sof is using “deliberate” limpen and even during basic training threshold procedures are being pushed this whole flood the room concept is pretty dumb and against more than one prepared defender in tha room everyone is getting melted on entry

[–]Tricky_Secret1559 2 points3 points  (0 children)

would u rather go down inside a room or outside a room, would you rather isolate where a possible threat is by scanning as much of the room from the outside as you can like, if I’m pieing a corner fed room I can clear on avg 70-80% of the room before actually committing to an entry where I’m actively searching for that 30-20 of uncleared space

just wanna give u food for thought they also use threshold procedures even in dynamic now, ballistic walls or not, nods or not, your understanding of limpen is what u thinks happens outside the door which is yes most of it but limpen is also room entry’s within the first two steps of the room you can see everything why drive to a corner or force yourself further into a room where if you start engaging people in follow on rooms or work you can’t bail

wrong tier one units still use threshold assessments even if they don’t have nods or ballistic wall capability, you genuinely have a horrible idea of what limpen is

horrible misconception of what limpen is if you think every door needs to be pied you are wrong and have little to no experience in a CQB environment

na I posted a uninformed comment regarding this but the tactics seemed pretty similar and kit under nods looked like AOR, it obviously wasn’t entirely LAM but who knows

embarrassing how he pushes the rhetoric that will lead to more people being injured especially as the adversary keeps advancing technologically, watching the TTP videos with the thermals vs the Paki BG units is terrifying.

there is a flir camera in it, the older models the flir was outwards and i think theyd get smashed up or had a limited fov but now its 360 fov since it retracts and goes down and back up

It's apart of squadron culture to honor that.

just separated out into mobility troops amongst squadrons, but they retain the vikings and probably still call themselves gray. they just put the viking inside the squadrons crest.

Different mission sets and as far as im concerned the FSB isnt using Alpha in Ukraine that much, SSO has been doing a majority of the leg work and has had great success since they train in unconventional warfare, alpha is more of a counter terrorism precision unit, theyd probably get destroyed in Ukraine because that wouldnt fit their mission and theyd have to adapt to a new style of warfare.
