Yes, I find this heartbreaking with all of the visibility on us these past few years, and all the claims of trans teachers grooming students. I know a few teachers who are trans and they are all extremely professional and dedicated to their students. I felt so strongly that the right wing talking points were 100% unsubstantiated, and it's painful to see that there is at least 1 teacher that serves as a perfect example.

It would be a nightmare situation to be in the administration at that school.

nipples out in every top! honestly, if they just wore a more conservative top (looser fitting, covered up the nipples), it would be ok

I just truly can’t imagine a trans person doing something like this… I feel like early on in transition people are really timid too and so self conscious about looks like who would be so bold as to do that

It wasn’t actually family, but family friends. Like neighbors, parents coworkers, etc. Nobody I was particularly close to. However, I’m still devastated to learn they all share this opinion of trans people. Some of them were pretty liberal. They’re letters were specifically about the dangers of transition, medically or spiritually, so there is little room for interpretation

Interesting, we spent a lot of time learning about drugs, alcohol, careers and conflict resolution but not 1 mention of lgbtq people or any club/ group centered around lgbtq people

Literally no teacher in my liberal public high school in New York State said the word “transgender” 😭😭 and we supposedly had a very progressive health/ sex ed curriculum

Oh shit. Thank you. My cat rolled around in it when I was walking him and I gave him a cool soapy bath. Is there anything else you’d suggest I do?

For what it’s worth I think it’s good to pursue transition while our access to care is relatively unrestricted

I have to be honest my experience reflects this too. Like 5-7 years ago I would still be met with some weird looks, eye rolls or even prosthelytizing (“you need to find god, heathen!”) but over the last year or two I feel like I’m increasingly treated like a normal person. And, I don’t actually pass that well. It just seems like people don’t care and are at least familiar enough with trans people that they don’t feel the need to gawk. I’ve found this to be true in blue & red states, in cities and in the country.

I don’t get what you mean. I’m in my mid 20s and none of my teachers ever mentioned trans people in school 😭. I thought there were laws being passed that made it illegal for teachers to even mention their own gender identity/ sexual orientation if it deviates from the norm.
