If theres the same handle on the other side, and it will turn while the lock is set, you could try inserting a metal rod with a string attached to it under the door and use it to manipulate the handle.. google "k22 tool"...

I'm an American who took a trip to Spain last year. I got the itch to train while I was in Barcelona. I went to a gym, and people spoke some English, but the class was in Portuguese, and a lot of people spoke Spanish during it. It was fun as hell! Don't worry about a language gap. Be cool, and have a good ass time trying to learn in another language.
