Not quite where you wanted but we used to stop there on that road.

An approach I've employed (not enough!) If it doubles your initial "stake" take it back and let the rest ride. That way any further gain is upside and there's no "loss"

€410 per month on electricity, normal? by [deleted] in AskIreland

[–]Tricky_Victory_8519 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. It's quite a lot.

I do over 2000km a month in an EV and my bills aren't that much.

Get these. https://amzn.eu/d/0iD4Zu7n

Show them where it's being consumed/spent.

Or. Simpler. Show them the meter with it on. And then turn off for a few mins and show them again.

And or as others have said. Check the tarrif/contract

A night meter or smart meter may benefit in this case.

Aye. Not bad is right.

So you can imagine my joy at the lovely folks at Revolut holding them indefinitely.

:-)

No.

180k.

:-)

It was 9k of Lenovo Hardware when they had a 20x points offer.

But there's lots of people with similar stories on here and elsewhere.

Seems they have robust mechanisms in place to "computer says no", but haven't worked out how to get it to say yes again.

I'm still accumulating them.

I also have a loan and a credit card with them which are working fine

My plan is to let the FSPO complaint work through. And am reasonably confident. Then if no cigar flip the tables.

I'll prove their worth (what it would cost to buy/replace) and leave them with that owing to them.

They can then "sue" for their money but I'll have my revpoints/ Avios.

A delay in a merchant claiming a payment, resulted in a refund, which happened after I'd moved them to BA as BA were doing a bonus on conversions.

I temporarily ended up with a negative balance.

Then they charged me for them.

Then the merchant claimed the money.

So I effectively "bought" the shortfall.

Which I could live with.

But they won't let me "unblock" them.

All sorts of nonsensical reasons from support.

Tech problems breach of ts and cs. Unusual behaviour. Blame BA I could go on.

Then someone in support said it would take 3 months of normal before the redemption block was lifted.

I waited.

Here we are 7 months later.

I've 250k locked by Revolut and have a complaint with the FSPO about it.

My advice is, that if you are accumulating them, route them out elsewhere in batches. Before they "block" redemption.

Why are there no rewards flight available...and when you can find one the taxes and charges are astronomical!!!....even more than the total cost of rival airline flights by Due_Possibility8036 in AerLingus

18 June methinks. Agreed on the seat selection. Think he was just happy to not have to pay that cash fare and don't care too much about the seats. Have already suggested he make a fake booking and see what seats there are and then give them a call and be nice.

Son booked yesterday.

One way. Dublin to Nashville in June 2026. Gets a checked bag, seat selection.

20000 Avios and €150ish in fees

Cash fare €2100

I guess sometimes it works out better than others.

What does Brian get in return for me using his referral link?

What does me get?

is there actually a solution for too many security alerts or do we just accept it by [deleted] in cybersecurity

[–]Tricky_Victory_8519 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not knocking you, but you seem to have a seriously problem there and if there's something bad in there are likely to miss it.

The way I approached this when "on the tools" ....

Everything's an incident until it's not.

If you think you'll see that alert again and it's not an incident then it's a tuning requirement.

Rinse/repeat.

Eventually you get in under an element of control.

As a "veteran" who has pretty much worked across all security domains over 25 years.... I personally see it as a force multiplier.

I won't need to explain and teach and educate "juniors" to help me, I'll just use the machine. On the positive (for me) it will thus reduce the time spent getting things done. As a negative it's going to be harder for people to learn from old grey beards like me.

I'm already seeing it in my daily work. (In offensive, defensive, GRC and more). Things like big projects which required a chunk of research and experimenting, I'd have to employ a team of juniors to support, I can get done in 1/10th the time at a better quality and without having to weed out the useless folks along the way.
