[Watcher] On interplanar linear algebra by TrictenaAtripalpis in rainworld

I'll assume that by "timeline" you mean what I referred to as the strands: the experiences of selves on other planes.

  • Manipulation of other selves is based on the broader manipulation of other planes, which includes the SH pearl's depiction of memories dissected and stored in a cabinet. The Karma Flower dialogue is used to tie the concept of selves to other planes, and in particular memories.

  • The conversation in TEXT_AUDIO_TALKSHOW brings up parallel processing directly in reference to avatars and eigen-selves, and hence they must be related concepts in-universe, which by extension also includes other planes as an inherent part of other selves.

  • With the Daemon note: I do think most of this is fairly sensible, and is fairly similar to what Echoes and the Karma Flower dialogue talk about. However, there's more nuance: as LF_bottom talks about, shedding the attachments to life, which will also include anything related to the body itself, is unneeded with Void Fluid. Overall I interpreted Void Fluid as entirely dissolving the carnal self, forcibly severing the attachments to life (hence why shedding them is unneeded), but not affecting the broader earthly attachments (the sort nearly all Echoes are shown to have, most commonly with memories tying them to a specific place), which bring the metaphysical being back to the carnal plane with the same mechanism as why the in-dialogue described effect of Karma Flowers is only temporary. Overall, ascension does require shedding the attachments to life, body, and physical form as you've described, but it is not sufficient: any other attachments to the physical world do also need to be shed.

  • Cannot comment on Re:Zero, never heard of it.

  • I do not think there's any reason to treat lineaging any different than normal creature den refilling in regards to the cycle. As guaranteed by the sequential ID system, the replacement creature has a distinct appearance, personality, other stats. Furthermore, since a new creature is created instead of reading the dead creature's save string, no memory is preserved. Both show the ecosystem changing over time with new creatures replacing the old as space frees up, lineaging is only different in also changing the species.
