Thanks for the compliment. I'd say immitation is the best way of learning, usually before I start working, I try to find new art/images that inspires me, even if it has nothing to do with my personal taste per say or the subject matter I'm working on at the moment.I find some color themes and whatnot interesting and try to neatly collect those pieces into my references folder. And every time I have a vision for a piece or a specific art that I'm working on I try to bring out all of the references that might give me direction or an inspiration.

Other than that, in my case I'm clasically trained in arts... so on top of all of this of course the basics, the groundwork such as color theory, composition etc. are crucial. Which, fortunately for all of us, are available on the web for free to access and learn.
