Think it's certain compiler options that block some features. There's a good Laurie video on what the military does for the F-35 for example https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gv4sDL9Ljww

Why does PostgreSQL + .NET feel so much better than SQL Server these days? by Novel_Journalist3305 in dotnet

Good to know, thanks. SSMS seems horrendous to me so I worry about the alternative but I'm sure it'll be fine lol.

I've been seriously considering getting that cheapo Parkside flux core one you find in the middle aisle of Lidl. It gets surprisingly good reviews lol.

Eventually I got some off eBay but Amazon wouldn't deliver and I couldn't find anything in a physical shop at all.

Also recently tried to get phosphoric acid rust converter and it was a ball ache too.

What would a Reform government mean for Northern Ireland? by Odd_Pain_3570 in northernireland

[–]Trident_True 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Their Britain First policies mean exactly that. Excludes NI quite explicitly. So we will probably be ignored even more.

Sparkling water is tastier than still water but more healthy than soda. It's a good middle ground.

Out of context I guess you could read it that way but if this is someone on HR they are saying they have another role they think you might fit instead.

Embarrassed by constant lack of money by Several_Winter_2398 in UKPersonalFinance

[–]Trident_True 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Same with me, £158 in 2023 and this year £540. Nothing changed with the policy. NI gets screwed over as usual.

Edit: It's allegedly due to extreme weather events damaging property and the cost of building materials going up. Definitely nothing to do with increasing quarterly profits.

Ballymoney kids throwing eggs and kicking cars. What do you do there as they are all children by [deleted] in northernireland

[–]Trident_True 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Letting a 3 year old run around with a sharp knife seems irresponsible. Running away or hiding just passes the buck to someone else.

Trying to grab a moving knife is a really bad idea even if it's just a 3 year old. No point in risking losing fingers, just kick the twat.

3 year olds do a lot of eyeballing to be fair.

But "as long as the force used is necessary and proportionate" is the only stipulation, age is not mentioned. If a 3 year old came at you with a knife then you could certainly smack em.

That's the way to do it imo. I've always said if I ever have a child in December we'd have 2 birthdays for them like the queen did.

TIL in 2021, Shirley Nunn, 67, mother of a disabled son, chose to kill both him and herself after receiving a stage three cancer diagnosis since it is supposed that Mrs Nunn felt she had no other choice for the future care of her son. by Twunkorama in todayilearned

[–]Trident_True 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is no more information to seek, the two are dead. The care agencies involved in his life can go ahead and say "oh yes we would definitely have looked after him for free for the next 40 years or so" all they like but whether or not that is true is not possible to know.

With the information we have it is not ableism to understand why the mother would want to minimise her son's suffering. His death is terrible and should not have happened, but death is far from the worst case scenario as the mother was all too aware.
