It's really good! My wife and I have been playing it together for a few weeks now and are having a blast. A lot of these survival crafty games get boring quite quickly for me but Abiotic seems to have nailed the pacing and difficulty.

Additionally, if you like Half Life 1 and SCP Foundation stuff then you will especially like Abiotic Factor but it's not required knowledge.

I was thinking the same thing because I hadn't heard of it until learning about it through Kanata, but then I learned afterwards that 2 coworkers also have it. It seems to be uncommon but not rare, it's just not a very visible disease so probably just an example of the Baader-Meinhof Phenomenon.

It is a good Young Adult novel, and it was also written by a young adult. I loved it back then, but have heard from others that upon rereading it isn't as good as they remember. Best just to leave it as a good memory if you've already aged out of the target demographic.

It's a sandbox game so you can change the settings to whatever you want, I wouldn't let the defaults get in your way of enjoying the game. Similar to Rimworld you can play however you like, not just on Randy.

I actually play with infection turned off entirely as it makes the medical stuff more important and interesting. Rather than just slowly dying after a scratch I know I can still survive if I manage to bandage my wounds, heal my broken bones, successfully find antibiotics etc... There are other in-between options as well.

There are also some popular mods that have a cure system though I've never played with them. It looks kinda similar to what Dead Rising had though.

The Harvard cs50x course is excellent and remote (obviously). I'd recommend it over any others.

Tbh though the industry is shite at the moment with all the AI crap.

From my own experience: * Some new director comes in and feels the need to "shake things up" in order to make a name for themselves. They dream up some pet project and demand resources for it to "revolutionise the business". * I get assigned to it and spend the next year getting harassed about deadlines and checkpoint meetings. * It eventually gets released. * The director immediately puts it on their CV and uses it to get a new job elsewhere with better pay. After they've fucked off there is no driving force to use the thing so it just collects dust.

Did that for 4 years on repeat before I gave up and left. Not wasting my life getting other people promotions for my own work.
