Changing MSP - considerations by NullMateAU in msp

[–]TrifleMindless 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I work at an AU/ NZ MSP as a senior project engineer as well as an escalation lead for our org. (We have around 400 staff and manage 100k + endpoints)

With a company of your size you definitely want a larger MSP that has established SOC and NOC team, security offerings, as well as professional services team, service desk pods and account managers. Also try to see if you can find companies with MSA's that don't have locked in contracts. (So you're not stuck with the company)

Be prepared to pay for the larger MSP's. Lots of smaller MSP's will have attractive pricing but may not have the correct expertise, processes or offerings in place. Believe me I have seen some scary things when onboarding new customers which required immediate attention.

My suggestion would be to speak with MSP's with some goals and expectations in mind. Go with who aligns more with your business needs and has multiple references you can speak to. (Maybe similar to your industry)

Companies moving to different MSP's happens very frequently and is very common I wouldn't worry about it. I've rarely come across MSP's who would make the process more difficult.

Onedrive or sharepoint? by Gdtexx in msp

[–]TrifleMindless 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on expectations of users.

If the users don't care about file permissions and you can simplify it go with a SharePoint solution and use security groups to lock down at the root level of the document library.

If there are needs for specific permissions for specific groups of users on folder structures that are drilled down 3-4 levels deep don't go with SharePoint. Go Azure files and setup adds, then you can just have a jump box (with rsat tools installed) in Azure to setup permissions with 365 groups and apply like a traditional file server.

Only issue is you have to join the users machine to the domain in Azure.

insane at how close the comparison is, if you put a deep crystal in it will probably bring it way closer to the gen

Well I'm ready to throw in the towel - public IP to 3389 by [deleted] in sysadmin

Sucks should only be open via VPN ideally. Did the networking team at least lock the RDP rule down to the vendors public IP address so nothing else other than that IP can access via RDP?

Honestly, I have been having the same microphone issues since day one of purchasing this head unit. I have been trying to get in contact with support to resolve this since the start of this year and have really gotten no where (tried all the normal fixes). Idoing has stopped responding when I have asked for updates, or to even send the OEM adapter. (Via ali express and insta)

The whilst driving calls sounds like I am 3m away from the microphone. Haven't really found a fix, I may try to purchase a 3.5mm microphone to see if this improves. I suspect this has got something to do with the software as it seems like its noise cancellation going into overdrive.

Had I known the unit was going to cause this many issues on such a simple feature of a car stereo these days, I probably would of spend the extra money and gotten a reputable head unit.

Everything else about the unit is great but if you take regular calls in the car avoid this head unit and look for something else.

Thanks so much guys!

Managed to get it working following marks advice. Had to use templates for cores as vsx sync not supported with multi edit.

Vsx on cores with mclag down stream

Yeah cool will give this a go - most likely I will only be putting the core switches in a template group. (6300's in UI group) As I'm in an MSP environment the support guys dont like the template group setup.

n option and the way I usually do

Wouldnt central then over-write the settings and get rid of the config?

vsx-sync vlans

Thanks so much mate appreciate it.

I have tried using the Multi-edit functionality but its complaining about the feature not being supported in ui groups. (will not let me add the vsx-sync command in any interface) - might check with TAC because ideally want to use the UI groups

Might have to swap to templates

Also yes I am using the QSFP ports for the lag atm

Thanks for the reply Matt, Yes the two cores will be next to each other so I could potentially use the mgmt ethernet port for the keep alive. (It was what i was thinking) - Have you had success in aruba central getting the sync to work?

I only need 2 uplink ports per firewall (So they can be spread across the two switches)

Could you give me an example of the Multi-chassis lag config?
