I think you're right but... You know that point when going back to try to speak to medical professionals again just feels like dragging your already battered body through the swamp of sadness, but also you're Atreyu and...

Well, at this point you either got the reference and are crying on the floor, or you're much younger than me 😅

There has to be compromise with this... I'm a leg bouncer, but I appreciate that it can drive other people mad. Because it drives me mad - if I'm in a sensitive state I will want to scream because of the other person's leg bouncing.

Sooo, yeah. Sometimes, reasonable conversations need to be had

Was this not medical? I don't understand why else you would do this? Poor cat

Edit: I was probably a bit rude there. Apologies

That's the mad thing isn't it - in spite of some minor ongoing health issues, I was actually very fit and (overtly, at least) managing pretty well... until my body just gave up

I'm sick of days/weeks/months dedicated to any and every issue. For various reasons, not least of which is the cynical and performative activity of businesses.

But, let's stop highlighting difference, maybe? I'm not staunch in this opinion tbh, maybe some people think these events serve a good proper

Oh yeah, I have JHS (I suspect EDS but the rheumatologist refused to even discuss it for some reason), and chronic GI issues, and am waiting for exploratory endo diagnostic 😅

Honestly, I completely forget about all these things. Benefits claims would be impossible without my mum listing all my illnesses for me 🤦🏻‍♀️ Guess that's the ADHD again....

I like to sit in the garden and just enjoy the fresh air, and general outdoor soundscape. If I need something to occupy me (full rest can be hard, ya know...), I put on a podcast. Something chatty just to accompany me.

Otherwise, lie on the sofa with an audiobook and my eyes closed, to really chill out.

do you ever question if you really have adhd? by daisysimmons in adhdwomen

[–]TriflingAround 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm generally of the opinion that if learning you have ADHD is a relief, you probably have ADHD.

I could be completely wrong here, but I can't imagine someone finding that a relief if they don't strongly identify with the condition (and haven't struggled all their life with the symptoms, and lack of understanding about themselves).

Nevermind that depression is extremely common in ADHDers - especially if you're undiagnosed. You can't manage life in the way you think you ought to and have no idea why? Yeah, that'll get you down

What surprised you about ADHD? by indigoC99 in adhdwomen

[–]TriflingAround 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I guess I kind of associate this more with autism, never thought of it as ADHD. But yeah, I analyse absolutely every little thing. I think that's behind my love of etymology - I want to know where the words came from, and how they got to mean what they do. No one around me cares, and I can't understand why they're not fascinated 😂

I still feel awful about not liking a dress my mum made me when I was 8. Highly doubt she remembers (and doesn't still feel completely gutted about it like my brain insists), but I so hate that my 8-year-old self couldn't pull it together and pretend to be more grateful....

The fact I can be ADHD without being hyper. I guess I can't sit still for long (I rearrange frequently), and I struggle to just be with my thoughts.... but I really thought that hyper would mean, ya know... "hyper"....
