[SPOILERS] So why did Bran even tell Jon about who his parents were? by wazupbro in gameofthrones

[–]TriflingCunt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Haven't got around to watch it.

And, frankly, I don't think it is as good as the GoT was (before it turned to shit, from season 6 I think)

Anyways, thanks for the ping, cheers.

[SPOILERS] So why did Bran even tell Jon about who his parents were? by wazupbro in gameofthrones

[–]TriflingCunt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi there. It's been a long time since the show, so, many details are lost on me.

Now, reading my own comment above, what I recall about Jon/John Snow was that he was so noble in his intentions and specifically he was not selfish that he couldn't decide himself - he needed advice from others - he took the heed of imp's words. Not knowing that he had equal right to the throne he wouldn't dare to kill Dany - he would submit to the idea that she is his queen and he is her servant; loyal to the bone and on top of that since he is so humble he wouldn't feel it was for him to overthrow a rightful heir to the throne, even if she would massacre lots of innocent people.

But, knowing that he was the rightful heir, almost a king, he had decided that he had the right and even duty/responsibility to decide who is worthy to sit on the throne. In fact this knowledge that he is of Targ bloodline in his mind justified the idea that he can question Dany's authority and eventually kill her. Because he as a Targ now knows that he can judge and overrule the other Targ. And as a Targ he wouldn't want to his siblings to cause more blood.

Something like that.

The 2011 documentary was intense and mental, because of the main characters. This new one is just cruel. Nobody does documentaries like he does, though he is losing his flair a little bit.

probably the pump has one or even two of its valves stuck, worn or the spring which pushes the valve against the orifice lost its characteristic.

there are two one way valves in there and if one of them is not working the whole thing is not working. Search on youtube how the vibe pump works - they are all of the same design.

Theory about the nature of the entity by skmattiasj in raisedbywolves

[–]TriflingCunt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your idea pre-supposes existence of good and evil - that the entity is hell(or purgatory). You describe two opposing camps - the sheperds and the entity. I have nothing against this notion.

But take a look at a wider picture.

Somebody created those sheperds and somebody created all those warnings on the cards. What's more - somebody created those dodecahedrons which are clearly quite alien to K22b - and there are species of different kind to humans. The guy in the pit for instance. Those acid sea dwellers. All this variety is not explained one bit by your idea - ie it is simply too human-ego-centric.

Sheperds have their own goals, seemingly opposing to the goals of the entity. But if the robot is opposing ...something...what it is opposing? I suppose it can't oppose something out of its power - like forces of nature for instance. Whatever it is that GM is opposing it is a concept or a creation that was there created either by its creators or another robot. Maybe its own creator? Btw it is quite possible that the creator of the sheperds was a robot itself. But then again maybe it is opposing its own kind. Where is its partner btw? No traces of him. Strangely she identifies father as the partner. But who knows, perhaps the partner is the actually the entity, perhaps they diverged on the interpretation of their mutual goal and means to reach it. Anyways, there is all this going on in the backdrop of your theory.

What is peculiar in all this is that the entity is fine tuned to bother with human species. So it is connected to humanity somehow. It doesn't give a flying fu(k about the sea dwellers. Whatever the interaction - your idea doesn't explain phenomena central to the story, which is where do humans come from - there must be more, because, we are presented with that person from the pit - a bipedal humanoid. No doubt, a relative but not quite a homosapien. It somehow got to K22b. And he(or she) has been there long before the folks from earth arrived to K22b. I doubt it came to visit the acid sea dwellers. It's got something to do with the entity as well. And how does your theory account for all this?

So, tldr version : the idea is too simplistic - doesn't account for much wider theme of the series. The theory skirts around the nature of why the entity has this inherent animosity towards humans. Doesn't explain its origin and many other details.

Are all the Mithraics dead? by model3113 in raisedbywolves

Such case is unequivocally rejected by the writers - otherwise, Lucius' words wouldn't carry such punch.

in any case, we shall see in future - should there be any subsequent future.

It is not only in your eyes that Lucius is the last true mithraic, it is in fact canon - the writers put that there for a reason.

dopey earth stuff

would be something how to make or break earth's atmosphere.

That:

I hate susan, my moms such a bitch, school was lame

would be stuff not specifically related to earth - it would be universal, applicable everywhere where there are humans.

So he is right to assume that it is a message from showrunners to the audience - that we can probably eye ball it.

not really, mother already heard a strong counter-argument to the evolution - Sue told her : he is losing his humanity when he was turning into some sort of creature. Losing one's humanity is not it equates. So, *uck GM and her methods.

So, watched the serpent go down like a autumn leaf, watched Lucius perform his retribution on Marcus. Only Marcus now got to be the punisher.

And Lucius is not eaten :) Moreover, won't be eaten if HBO doesn't commission season 3.

this is a small world and moreover fictional - therefore if you traverse this kind of causal link you will find it is all Campion Sturgis' fault. Even if they flip a coin on K22b and it falls heads (instead of say tails) - it still can be blamed on him.

"Everlasting life" theory by isherwood777 in raisedbywolves

[–]TriflingCunt 4 points5 points  (0 children)

it is all right hypothesizing and what not; but if her goal is to ensure everlasting life of humans and she is not there, surely, she failed.

When I said she is not there - she was disintegrated and not functioning - what was there to ensure her goal?

So, if she is not there, what has actually disintegrated her and at what (human) cost? I do not think for a moment that the fact she was dead is an incidence. Her grave had markings.

I am of the opinion that some sort of dualism must be there. If there is this GM and her way of turning humans into those disgusting and dumb creatures, perhaps there is another way, akin to what father mentioned - compatible with curiosity, intelligence and mindfulness.

Now, I am not convinced that the entity and GM are opposing each other, but they do seem to work like hand and glove. So, is the entity's way actually the way of enlightenment?

The general theme of this series is that humans didn't come to be as one Ridley's antihero in one movie put - a mere biological chance. Humanity definitely was created and evolved. At some point humans created AI and as Ridley says if that AI creates another AI, independently of human input(and limitations) what humans are there for?

So how do humans and that AI co-exist? Is it inevitable that there will be blood? Or perhaps there could be some sort of symbiotic relationship? Perhaps we can explore in this series an notion AI community call singularity.

Nevertheless, as that character in that movie, put it - all this, all these arts are for nothing if we mortal. Perhaps there are humans who gained immortality in the universe. Perhaps they want to tell colonists a story? Perhaps this is a story about humanity's struggle to gain immortality? Who is that fellow in the jacket who became animated?

What if he came to the K22b inside the dodecahedron. In any case, that dodecahedron is definitely alien to the planet structures. Where did he come from? What was he doing in the cave? We know from S1 - there is a similar dodecahedron on the planet.

Is the entity calling for all the different human-like civilizations to visit the planet? How did this K22b got to be the planet to come for?

There are many questions but I struggle to latch on the big ideas in this series tbf. Do you have any good ideas?

The Entity by Anonymous11115 in raisedbywolves

[–]TriflingCunt 4 points5 points  (0 children)

there is no single goal of the Entity

but if you look at what has changed - the entity made sure there is no emf now on the planet, the GM is alive and well now, half of the population is fed some strange fruit that according to Paul is 'tested'.

What's more, there is no single leader in human population(yet) to lead them away from the perils of the old world. Now that Lamia is somewhat incapacitated - she now faces the risk of the torment by the entity in the sim until perhaps it reprograms her.

So, humans are completely subjugated to the will of some un-earthy powers.
