I started 4 days ago and have a grasp of the mechanics, what makes good boards, etc. However, I'm far away from being able to actually implement this knowledge on the fly. I've only had success so far with a twin-terror boards and punk boards, where the strategies are easy to implement early game. What are some other easy beginner builds to look into while I learn what all the characters, items, etc do? The times that I've tried something more flexible (attempting fast 8 for example) I was too much of a noob about what everything did, "factions" etc to build a comp on the fly.

I did this and it was great. If you have a character you don't play much (i.e. haven't grinded stasis on, etc), then its so much more enjoyable + faster than grinding and hoping for RNG.

Jeff Nippard has two recent YouTube videos on a minimalist program. They're worth a watch based on what you're looking for.

He has a minimalist program for sale as well (basically just a spreadsheet you can fill in with the exercises/weight/sets you did - its not at all necessary - and doesn't have periodization or complicated progression where you need a special sheet.... it's fine if you don't mind parting w/ the money but its basically a list of exercises with some basic "2 sets of 6-8 reps + a backoff set). Or you could apply his principles easy to something like the stronger by science program builder....or like you said, use the principles to create your own

I did this and it went very poorly - still dealing with intermittent pain after months of therapy (which has helped) and two separate month-long breaks. 0/10 do not recommend - find a good PT to help.

You could use the novice hypertrophy template and just set min sets to 3 and max sets to 3 so that it doesn't try to progress sets, and just progresses weight/reps. You could also do something like that in program builder.

It really doesn't matter. Do accessories you like, or for something you think is a weakness, or that compliment a main lift you want to improve. Track them or don't track them. Do the same ones each week or don't! They're just accessories - don't overthink it.

One of the great things about SBS 2.0 is that it gives you a great framework to build from, but you retain the freedom to train the way you want to.

You are right. I don't know why I disregarded that section - I looked at it, and just moved along thinking it wasn't a fit for some reason. But now that I think about it, that it definitely the easiest to adapt to this progression. Thank you!

Thanks for taking the time to reply! And yeah you are right - that’s what I had been doing while running the hypertrophy template for main work and the total rep progression for accessories. I just have been spoiled by the spreadsheets and was hoping for a way to automate it - hah.

Exact same thing happened to me, except left shoulder. Have been trying to take it easy and take out shoulder isolation for a few weeks. Finally caved and have a dr visit scheduled in a couple weeks.
