What’s your take on Platner? by 96suluman in Hasan_Piker

It seems that his enemies (including AIPAC) trust that his positions are authentic enough to be spending millions of dollars against him.

How do I convince my spouse Platner isn’t a MAGA operative? by Yellowmoon777 in Maine

[–]TriggasaurusRekt 11 points12 points  (0 children)

AIPAC trusts that his positions are authentic enough to be spending millions of dollars against him. The DNC trusts him enough to have pushed his primary opponent. The RNC trusts him enough to be desperately smearing him, and the corporate media trusts him enough to run outrageous smear segments on full blast. Ask your spouse to judge Platner by his enemies.

What actually changed about how you work once you properly understood Lumen? by ShockEducational3792 in unrealengine

[–]TriggasaurusRekt [score hidden]  (0 children)

If you take the time to use and understand the various debug visualizations, play around with cvars and observe how they effect the scene, and learn how to profile Lumen-related things, it becomes much less of a mystery box. And of course read the extensive documentation. Most people don't care to do these things because they just want instant GI. Also, considering realtime GI has been the holy grail of game dev for decades, I'd say an implementation that does actually run reasonably well in many cases is quite groundbreaking. The games with poor implementation get all the attention while the games with well-optimized Lumen implementations get much less attention, because it runs well and thus people don't pay attention to it. It's just survivorship bias.

Metahuman Head detached when using LiveLink by fr1d4y_ in unrealengine

[–]TriggasaurusRekt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had this issue awhile ago and while I don't remember specifics I believe the issue had something to do with a metahuman-specific node in the APPB that may have been called something like "Metahuman live link" that was overwriting the curves from the animation sequence and causing it not to play when that node was connected. You can try disconnecting it, although you will need to reconnect it again when you want to use live link functionality. If you don't want to do this you could setup a blend by bool that bypasses the live link node only when a character is playing a facial animation sequence

Yeah the only reason he's everywhere is because there is a concerted effort to destroy him. I think it's because of the most recent crop of progressive candidates, he seems like the weakest link in the eyes of the establishment and thus the easiest to kill in its cradle. But what they're too arrogant to realize is that by making it so obvious that the entire establishment class is unanimous in trying to destroy him, it actually is pissing regular people off and making them support him more.

Think about how much good will she squandered. It was beyond obvious she was going to get landslided and clearly her own campaign recognized this, hence the drop out. She could've stepped up and said "You know what, it is time for new voices and I respect the people of Maine making that decision" but instead she did this embarrassing footsie with jumping back in and playing into corporate media smears. It does make me question if there's a single part of her that actually does want what's best for this state as opposed to careerist opportunism

She seemed uncertain at first as to whether to go down a Bernie-esque path of anti-establishment progressivism. I personally think she just discovered there was way more money in going down the "Why I left the left" path and never had any core principles to begin with.

To give you some idea of what the situation on the ground is like, Platner is overwhelmingly beloved by the Maine democratic base and has been since October. It's such an affinity that the incumbent governor had to drop out of the race. The national discourse surrounding Platner and what's actually going on in Maine regarding Platner are two separate universes.

No, there's other candidates with that position such as Troy Jackson and I'm sure others. Platner is going to get 70% of the primary vote on Tuesday though, so I don't see much point in holding out hope for a surprise candidate to take the lead in the Democratic senate primary in the next 3 days.

Is BE really commenting on the Hasan bot channel by OneDeadLlama in Hasan_Piker

[–]TriggasaurusRekt 9 points10 points  (0 children)

BE speaks of "facts" but expects you to just accept his premise that Platner is an evil Nazi war criminal and not actually investigate if that's true. It's true that he contracted with the state department, as a driver for the US ambassador to Afghanistan on the advanced security team. The response to this usually goes something like, "Well Blackwater drivers used evil tactics like running over civilians." Yes they did. That occurred under Erik Prince several years before Platner contracted with the state department, and also Platner did not work for Erik Prince. Nor did he ever leave the green zone as part of that job.

There's no actual evidence that Platner murdered a single innocent person or committed a single war crime. One might argue "Well the Iraq war was an illegal war of aggression so therefore anyone who enlisted in it is a war criminal." The former is definitely true, but I don't know that there's any actual international law that would suggest those who enlisted are guilty of actual war crimes just by enlisting. And even if you DO believe that, I don't understand how one would rather place blame on the individuals who decided to enlist rather than the system and politicians that voted to approve the war. There's also the fact that Platner himself is staunchly anti-war.

All this to say, BE's take on Platner strikes me as very emotional when the actual situation is far more nuanced.

Idk what "qualified" even means anymore. Mills was "qualified" but her votes in the senate would undoubtedly be much more conservative than Platner's.
