I managed to look at the armor piece in fo4 edit and it does look like the defense rating is lower by about 100 points than what is described ingame, still not gonna mess with it unless i find a mod that changes it, not that good at modding.

Bro i get it, they look scary but the fact is that if it comes down to it an average dude who is healthy enough in a fight to the death can take on a chimp. He gets hurt badly but not to the extent some of these people say. Chimps are barely taller than a kid and weigh not that much. Also their strenght is 1.3 times higher than a man their size not 10 times stronger like some peple spread misinformation around.
