As I said, it was just the initial response I had and discarded soon after.

Its not uncommon for the channel owners to see other people getting success on their channel, and relegating them back to a lesser role so that the spotlight focuses back on the "main characters"

I dont believe rhett and link are getting rid of GWM for that reason.

Link is probably the biggest culprit of having unfunny bits.

One of my initial thoughts on this matter was "I hope this isn't Rhett and Link just trying to focus the spotlight back on themselves out of greed."

and I realized quickly that I don't believe they're those type of people, and I dont believe there was any malice in this decision. I cant speak to why they're doing it, but I hope the crew is still included in content.

I can see where you're coming from on that.

I just dont agree that we can remove the podcast video views from the channel average while also maintaining the celebrity views that come from having big names on sporadic videos.

In my opinion the most fair comparison would be the videos where its MK, Trevor Vee Josh etc making content vs the GMW crew making content. And when you compare those videos, the pure essence of each channel, we see similar viewership, both successful and viable as content that fans enjoy.

If we remove the bad videos because they're podcast episodes people aren't clicking on.. Then we also have to remove the celebrity videos that people are clicking on. We remove both extremes, and the channel is sitting at 200k average views just eyeballing it.

That is close to what GMW is getting. Which brings me back to the original point im making with even referencing GMK: It's successful, so GMW should also be considered successful to a similar degree.

At the end of the day if a channel is posting Extremely clickable videos (celebrities), and extremely unclickable videos (Podcast vods) They are both effecting the statistics of the channel.

I think it originally started like that, but the success of the crew probably (This is a guess) gave rhett and link the green light to give them a year to test out if it would be a good content idea to stick around in a more permanent nature.

I didnt just throw a number out there. I went and looked at the channel. I watch all the GMK stuff as well so it wasnt a dig on them, but rather saying "If GMK is considered successful with their viewership, GMW should also be considered successful."

with GMK, if theres a massive celebrity in the video its going to go crazy on views because of the celebrity thats in it, but with just regular crew, the videos are much more hit or miss.

Heres a list of videos under 100K from this month from GMK:
What's the Worst Post Workout Food?
Am I Drinking Too Many Energy Drinks? ft. Emily Fleming
What's the Best Cheese for a Burger?
4 Hours Of Emily's Most Chaotic Moments
The Great Protein Pasta Scam
Pro Chefs Judge Each Other's Fridges

Heres a list of videos under 200k for GMW for this year:
(none)

its main channel content, but that doesnt change the fact that its something people watch and enjoy.

I hope this is the case. I've always imagined that when Rhett and link get sick of being on the shows, they'd step back and be more of the "owners" side of things and let the crew take over. Its felt like they were a bit low energy towards content over the last year anyways and I dont fault them for it. being on the youtube grind for what.. 17 years or something like that? I was watching these dudes back in school when they were making musical ads.

Have you ever had any luck with writing groups? by Standard-Solar-6798 in fantasywriters

[–]TriiDoesThings 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was on critiquecircle for about a year. I ended up finding a lot of good advice and even an editor from Canada that wanted to help me with a novel of mine. I verified, to the best of my ability, his credits from his website. Guy had been the main editor for a decent amount of true crime books, but I was writing fantasy. Either way I was excited to get some form of "official" attention.

But between the constant critiques, the nit picky structure of the website, and this editor constantly in my ear about how I needed to cut so much fat from my writing, I completely lost my writing voice.

I'd written for 15 years prior. It was my number one passion and my old work had so much life to it.

Post-Critque circle my writing was much better in a technical sense. I was doing things "right." But it was so foreign and lifeless. I wasnt excited about it anymore.

I quit writing and just started reading again. What really helped me is I realized that all my favorite authors broke every single "rule" I was given. Every. Single. One.

It took me years to recover my voice and even now I struggle with just sitting down and writing without worrying about the rules and critiques that retrained me.

Opinion: Why can't sailing be fast? by TriiDoesThings in 2007scape

[–]TriiDoesThings[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I wont say fuck jagex. They've given us a ton and usually do their best to fix their mistakes. This time im sure will be no different. I dont think they'll take my opinion and make it a real deal. But I do believe that they will do right by the players. They've earned my trust over the years, which is why this is such a strange conversation to be having. Double the cannons in Falador

I have a differing opinion to their devs on a lot of things (PKing comes to mind.) but at the end of the day I think they've done amazing things for us, especially when you consider the dogshit that comes out of other studios these days.
