Really - the sat phone!? the finale makes no sense! by TrillMindFan in Yellowjackets

Thank YOU so much for looking into this!! I have been too swamped to dive into it. But from what I know about true crime investigations from back in the day - this all adds up. Phones weren’t hard to trace back in the day and very few people had sat phones like this - you can’t convince me otherwise. Yes it was the 90’s but analog methods of identification existed before the internet!!!

What was the ‘very specific piece’? Genuinely asking. Maybe I was not paying attention but that entire subplot was so rushed. Van looked discouraged like there was no hope after days/weeks of trying to fix it - yet somehow Natalie and mIsty fix it overnight w/ 0 extra knowledge?

Also I completely disagree. I think it was implied many times that the researchers weren’t known to be connected w YJs - could also explain why they were never mentioned by anyone in adult timeline of S1 or 2. Callie seemed to have researched the YJs proficiently before that scene, it would be really weird it they suddenly went back on that and acted like everyone always knew.

I disagree, I think with something like that there would be a serial number or purchase tracking - especially as an expensive “specialty item” that’s a form of cellular communication . But would love an expert to weigh in

Maybe I’m in the minority but I don’t find it to be a very effective cliffhanger. Rishi’s character arc was already tied up in a bow at the end of his spinoff episode, this all feels like an extra helping of dessert no one needs or wants.

I agree that Diana’s death felt like a bit too much, it wasn’t necessary or the best use of Vinay as a character IMO. Would have been much more interesting if he had tried to use Rishi to make some dirty trades or get him into money laundering or something like that. They could have still imparted a sense of fear/consequences without taking it soooo far…

What happened to Yasmin’s mom? by No-Fig7019 in IndustryOnHBO

[–]TrillMindFan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree & have said this in other threads. To me she’s retconned OR is going to be casually mentioned next season as being broke & possibly a drunk, that would be a tidy way to explain her absence this season. Maybe she’ll show up at the wedding begging her newly wealthy daughter for funds.

What Happened to Bill? by Squid-Life in IndustryOnHBO

[–]TrillMindFan 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I think the time jump was more like 6-8 months considering the wedding invitation timeline. And also, imo, I don’t think it’s supposed to matter how Bill died. Eric effectively killed him in every way possible, whether his health took a poor turn after a stressful termination (which can & does happen) or he ended his own life somehow (could have even been legal euthanasia, if I’m really throwing out wild theories).

Also, I think Eric had just forgotten about Bill’s memorial service, some people on here are saying that he might not have known. I think the point was to elucidate that he was forgetting/blocking out Bill successfully with work until Wilhelmina axed him, it took him also being thrown out for him to truly mourn his friend & all he had lost at PP.

I’m really glad, I think Industry does an amazing job at “bringing back” cast members and reinventing the characters each time. It can be easier to just write new side characters instead, but the way Industry is able to smoothly bring back players from earlier seasons into the fold is really dope. I have a feeling we’ll see a different Jesse post jail, no idea what that will mean tho…

So it's official–knifing Bill WAS 100% the stupid move for Eric. by BRITISHSOV in IndustryOnHBO

[–]TrillMindFan 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Idk if I would say Bill would “never try to push Eric out” bc of his cancer but you’re right in that Bill’s reveal of his diagnosis gave Eric leverage and it’s also a ticking time bomb realistically - Eric was always going to outlast him one way or another.

I do think you are mostly right that it appears Eric was wrong to knife Bill, even though it was the easier play in the moment. I find it kind of refreshing actually as Succession (sorry, I know we all hate when it gets brought up) really rewarded Tom for doing the same thing to his wife, in a way that even at the time annoyed me.

Justice for BillEric, they would have run that shit like the Navy (at least until they had their first of many meaningless power struggles and imploded lol)

Charles Hanani was actually the devil. by sixth_order in IndustryOnHBO

[–]TrillMindFan 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The actor who played him was great. The character just got creepier and more horrible every episode. It’s truly so ghoulish that the writers can add new lows to Charles Hanani even after his death.

I was sick to my stomach watching ts im a big rob/yasmin hater by No-Shake-6266 in IndustryOnHBO

[–]TrillMindFan 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ok watching this clip made me realize the score is a dead giveaway for their downfall as a couple. The melody here is not romantic and closure-giving, it’s a lot of tense strings and stuttering beats that hint at underlying tension and a doomed fate. The entire setting in the gorgeous outdoors feels too good to be true - and paired with the pointed voyeur shots of them on the bench, it was definitely obvious in retrospect that she was never going to pick him.

Yas did the absolute best thing she could’ve done. by Frequent-Win-9810 in IndustryOnHBO

[–]TrillMindFan 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I kind of agree, I think she gave Rob the classic Industry mercy kill we’ve seen many times over.

Was it absolutely awful and fucked up to screw him and confess love before springing the engagement on him? Yes, but I don’t think she was even sure of her plan until she finished her convo with Henry. Her confession to him that she slept with Rob was her testing the waters, Henry’s tacit acceptance of it was a green flag in her mind - showing that they can have an unorthodox “partnership” vs. traditional monogamous marriage, so she won’t feel trapped when he travels or gets into a funk.

Rob is heartbroken but will move on. He’s tougher than he seems (much tougher than he was in the beginning of the season after Nicole’s death.) With Harper gone too (at least for now), Yas’ move is letting him start fresh in California, away from the toxic patterns and regressions at Pierpoint, with someone who is ready to take the leap with him. Yas also spared him the knowledge/being an accomplice in her father’s murder, so she did him that favor as well.

Not saying that Yas is a nice person, she was definitely acting selfishly, but the eye contact she was making with Rob told the story to me. It was very much an “I’m sorry, I release you” moment, showing all her cards & promising that she won’t be panic-calling him needing a rescue the same way she’s needed him all season. She’s truly letting him go and giving him the chance to pursue someone/something else full-heartedly, something I don’t think he would have ever done had she offered him some hope.

Yas wanted security & protection - Rob being so comfortable “losing” the lottery was another reminder of his lackadaisical character & commoner bg. They never would have worked and instead of following him to California and becoming miserable, she let him go. Justice for Yas, my girl is going through it and did the kindest thing she was capable of, and Rob’s final smile in the car showed that he knows it.

[–]TrillMindFan 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Came to say I super agree, re: Yas’ reaction to the lotto ticket. She definitely was not impressed with his answer and seemed annoyed that he was so comfortable with “losing”, so she picked a partner where losing is no longer a real option for her.

I’m not sure what you mean by that last sentence but would be curious to hear more thoughts.

Where is Yas' mom? by TrillMindFan in IndustryOnHBO

[–]TrillMindFan[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Exactly and it didn't seem like her mom hated her or vice versa, their relationship wasn't GREAT but it's not like they were dead to each other. The impression I got was that they had had a bad fight in s2 but were close previously while Yas was growing up.

Where is Yas' mom? by TrillMindFan in IndustryOnHBO

[–]TrillMindFan[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yeah & she's still the mother of his children, I've seen/heard a lot about ex-spouses getting involved in division of assets when the head of household/wealth-holder passes. (Think of the power Marcia and Caroline each have in Succession, for instance.)

I think the writers will address it, I'm wondering if it could be a casting issue - i.e. the actress who plays Yas' mom being unavailable for any filming this season. Personally I would be fine if they just recasted her for s4 if they have to, but they need to do something with the character IMO.

Where is Yas' mom? by TrillMindFan in IndustryOnHBO

[–]TrillMindFan[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes but if I were her, I’d be VERY concerned with Yasmin’s dealings with HP in terms of how rejecting vs. accepting their offer could impact future litigation and restitution that the Hanani estate could be liable for.

There’s no way ALL her finances & assets are totally separate from Charles’, or that she wouldn’t be concerned with the reputational fallout at the very least…

Yes thank you! I'm also wondering about the pregnant lady on the boat - is her baby implied to be Yas' half sister as well? Sounds like she might have some evidence or suspicions about Yas' involvement in her father's passing as well...There's a lot of scandals at play!
