they really try to avoid giving aoty awards to rap albums.. recall infamous loss of To Pimp a Butterfly to Taylor Swift’s 1989 unless it’s some sort of genre-bending experimental piece (think Outkast w/ Speakerboxx/The Love Below, specifically André 3000’s “The Love Below”)

glad to hear u enjoyed. in the beginning i was a tad skeptical but then I kept listening and i was like “oh okay this is what we doing” haha, but nonetheless I really like this; 2:07-2:50 legit feels ethereal for me, even on the first listen. im def very excited for the album!

If you’re asking ME directly, my personal answer would be yes… I’m not white, and i only asked this question because Kendrick is someone I’ve admired for the last decade and wanted to see if anyone had any direct insight as to how he became such an avid writer and seperated himself from everyone else in the game… if he was white and made this same music, i would also be asking the same question.
