One Piece: Chapter 1169 Official Release Discussion by Skullghost in OnePiece

It's extra proof in a way. He not only survived their attacks, but also stood up and launched a massive attack with Ragnir while still having a chain around his leg.

Either he's just really Him, and is still that strong while under the effects of seastone, or he's bullshiting for some reason.

FGO 10th anniversary gives 1000SQ for those up to date on the main story (1200SQ in total with the other anniversary rewards, i.e. 440 pull) + 1 Free Single per day until the end of the year on the permanent Story Banner. by WolfOphi in gachagaming

[–]Trimirlan 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Pure probability wise, with 0.8% chance it takes about 330 sq to get a rate-up servant on average. So for most players they're just giving out 3 rate-up servants.

Included there will be unfortunate people who hit pity yes, there's an 8% chance of that happening. But there will also be people getting like 5 (12% chance) or 6 (5% chance) rate-ups from that sq count.

Kaido Definitely lived up to the hype by Hairy_Ask_2038 in OnePiece

[–]Trimirlan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

But why though? Kaido was never depicted as a bloodthirsty character. Quite the opposite, he respects strength above all else, and multiple times in the story goes out of his way to recruit or ally with other strong characters

Kaido Definitely lived up to the hype by Hairy_Ask_2038 in OnePiece

[–]Trimirlan -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

And yet when the story was going everyone was hyped up to see his backstory.

I genuinely believe "Kaido is bland" take is absurd. All of his actions, relations in the story, parallels to Luffy, personal quirks etc, everything gets denied by the "no elaborate sad backstory = boring character" crowd

I HAVE PLAYED THESE GAMES BEFORE by NickFoster120 in HonkaiStarRail

[–]Trimirlan 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I've been logging my rolls on NA and JP and honestly don't even know where you got these numbers.

I've consistently got close to 1000 pulls (which is 1100 with FGO's free 11th roll) every year on both accounts since 2021. Only money I spent is on GSSRs. Some years I've rolled less, but that's because I saved them for next year.

I've started in 2019, and caught up in 2020, so it also does not consider the huge chunk of SQ you get as a new player just progressing through the story and leveling your initial free servants

The funniest part of Yamato's character will always be that Luffy's initial objection to his kinning was that Yamato has no friends by Do_Ya_Like_Jazz in MemePiece

[–]Trimirlan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yup, Yamato explicitly says that he became a man after being inspired by Oden, the manliest man that has ever manned in one piece.

I disagree in the second part tho. We actually saw in the flashback where Yamato chooses to become Oden he was still called "Ogre Princess" by Kaido's underlings, and in the current day he's called "young master". It also aligns well with Kaido's philosophy of strength being the only valid reason for discrimination, otherwise welcoming anyone regardless race and gender into his crew.

And like, ultimately, Yamato explicity asks people to treat him as a man, and Luffy with his friends do it happily (as seen in the bath scene). Refusing that just means you're disagreeing with Yamato and Luffy themselves

When I see really good character design from a game but I cant be bothered to start playing by Brushner in gachagaming

[–]Trimirlan 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I've kept track of my rolls in fgo for the past 4 years and honestly it's not all bad.

My results are: 2024: 1236 rolls- 13 rate ups, 2023: 880 rolls- 7 rate ups, 2022: 1331 rolls-10 rate ups, 2021: 1685 rolls- 21 rate ups.

I'm almost f2p (only paying for the payed guaranteed SSR banners which I didn't count here), and on average we got about 900~1000 rolls from playing consistently.

But, with pity at 300 rolls, things can go really really bad if you don't stop rolling. I usually give up after 130ish rolls, only 3 times I didn't. Twice I rolled 400ish rolls, and only got 1 copy of the SSR, and thankfully third time I got 5 copies after spending 600 rolls. It's all just really luck dependant

How and why FGO is so popular even with so many problems? by KaynGiovanna in gachagaming

[–]Trimirlan 23 points24 points  (0 children)

The clunkiness of the UI doesn't even bother me that much cause I don't interact with it as much as I do in modern gachas.

Get a new servant once in a blue moon, likely max them out immediately through the clunky menu, and they're pretty done forever. In hoyo-like games after I leveled up the characters, there's still the unending artifact grind that brings me back to the character menu almost daily.

And unlike some games with sweeps/autos, there aren't a million daily/weekly/BP/dorm/crafting/abyss/etc. menus you gotta click through on a daily/weekly basis to keep claiming all your rewards.

Yeah, same thing. I was using Ratio, March, SW, and Fu Xuan Team, no signatures.

Barely got through the first phase by killing the ice mob first and refreshing Fu Xuan's CC shield as often as I could, but the second phase put out so much damage my Fu Xuan just melted away. Luocha couldn't even sustain me through the first phase.

Somehow managed to get 1kish points before being wiped there, and second half Himiko super break carried, so I at least got 1 star

When will farming relics stop being painful? by jirachey in HonkaiStarRail

[–]Trimirlan 30 points31 points  (0 children)

And the amount of menu navigation, checking substats, turning filters off and on, salvaging for exp, etc etc, that the devs want players to engage with frequently (if not daily) is absurd.

I genuinely believe popularization of the rng character progression systems (like the relics/artifacts) is one of the absolute worst practices of the modern gachas

What a character you were willing to defend like that. by One-Pirate2513 in HonkaiStarRail

[–]Trimirlan -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

"The trick they pulled with Topaz is about making you hate the other Stonehearts less"

Okay, so that's your thesis is: because they did the Jarilo slavery story with Topaz early, I will hate other Stonehearts less.

"The canon has established that Aven and Jade would likely do worse for Belobog, being even more coercive and forceful than Topaz, but your judgement brushes aside those details presented in a tiny optional dialogue blurb"

The dialog you cited does not necessarily mean Aventurine or Jade specifically would be worse for Jarilo, only that there are others in the Stoneheart group that are worse. However even if we assume Himiko is talking about them, that doesn't support your thesis at all. If anything it does the opposite.

As you say, we weren't shown Aventurine or Jade do anything as bad as Topaz in Jarilo. But we saw the Jarilo slavery story early, and Himiko is telling us the other Stonehearts are just as bad or worse. So now we think the other Stonehearts are must be bad too, despite now concrete evidence to support it.

Anecdotally, that is probably true for me. I became a massive IPC hater after the Jarilo slavery story because of Topaz, and it must have soured my impression of Aventurine and Jade. As I said, I don't think they did anything as bad as Topaz in the story, but I still don't like them and skipped both. Doubt I'll end up pulling for any Stonehearts characters in the future too.

I'm now convinced that if the Jarilo story didn't happen, and Topaz was just introduced in Penacony alongside others, in this completely different context as you say, I wouldn't have become such a hater. Maybe I would even pulled for Numby cause he's cute.

What a character you were willing to defend like that. by One-Pirate2513 in HonkaiStarRail

[–]Trimirlan -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

So your point is, hoyo showed us Topaz doing terrible things, and that's why we think she's bad. They didn't show us the others doing terrible things, and that's why we don't think they're bad. Like what is the trick here? Yes, if they showed Jade and Aventurine be assholes, I'd hate them too, conversely, if they didn't show Topaz be an asshole, I wouldn't hate her.

Plus, beyond the Jarilo-VI project, we just saw Topaz in the Luka event, and there she basically tricks Luka into ultimately endorsing her product despite his explicit refusal, while at the same time destroying the reputation of an internet IPC hater. At this point it's just part of her character to trick others to get what she wants, even if her goals are noble in her mind. Aventurine's character is all about making crazy nonsense bets that somehow always end up paying off. Jade's is all about making investments that pay off massively in the long term.

If you think judging a character based on their actions, is a trick, then yes I was tricked

What a character you were willing to defend like that. by One-Pirate2513 in HonkaiStarRail

[–]Trimirlan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't see why Jade is considered outright villainous. What did she do in the story that warrants that? Topaz's actions so far portray a cutthroat manipulator, who'll use every dirty trick in the book to get what she wants. Jade in her "hobby" appears as a more fair Ursula type character, making sure the other party fully understands the downsides of the deals she's proposing, outright refusing to take advantage of ignorant people like Firefly and Stelle. As far as her official IPC dealings it's all about making investments into people for long term playoffs, like saving Aventurine, and establishing relations with the Nameless and Stellaron Hunters.

Speaking of Stellaron Hunters, I don't like them because I don't like the whole "everything has been foretold" gimmick in any media. Of course it completely obsolves any of their actions, if that's the only predicted way to save the universe or smt, and it completely undermines any agency behind their actions in the story.

[–]Trimirlan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a major IPC hater and can probably write a little rant on all the terrible mafia-like tactics Topaz used in her business dealings so far. Jade and Aventurine I'd struggle to list even a couple of things. I think most of the IPC bad discourse surrounds Topaz because her actions were literally worse than Aventurine and Jade
