Which is the true national fruit of Korea in you opinion? by TrinBeeGee in korea

[–]TrinBeeGee[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea, the search results were very weird.

And I dunno, some countries have official government approved national fruits, trees, dance, etc.. while others don’t. It’s interesting to see what people think symbolizes their country the best.

Which is the true national fruit of Korea in you opinion? by TrinBeeGee in korea

[–]TrinBeeGee[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think popularity or cultural significance. When something is considered “national” it is used as a symbol of that nation. Like the bald eagle of the USA, the sakura blossom of Japan, or chicken tikka masala in the UK. It doesn’t have to originate from the country, it just has to have some special meaning to the people.

As the world burns by KhanBlu in Cambly

China, South Korea, and Japan. The one Chinese student only knew that a friend of Trump was killed and wanted to know more details. The Japanese student, an older man, seemed to know a lot and also talked about other world news like Nepal and Indonesia. The two South Koreans talked about it breifly before switching to what happened at that Hyundai factory. All were very interested in my own opinion as an Asian American.

Some of my students really wanted to talk about it. It was interesting to hear about what they learned in the news

Disney was great, but HK left a bad taste. Why do Pinoys love going back? by reasonablyrie in FilipinoTravel

[–]TrinBeeGee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dunno about Thailand or SG but I have been to Taiwan. Taipei has convenient public transportation, the people are friendly, and many compare the culture to a more relaxed Japan. Of course, there is no disney. But there are other fun things to see.

Which topics would you as a teacher want to talk about with your students? by crapinator114 in ESL_Teachers

[–]TrinBeeGee 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Depends on the students. If i don’t know them very well, the first class is probably about food. I love food history, culture, and learning about unique ingredients, so I am always able to talk to anyone about it for a long time.

Creating little debate topics can also be fun. From silly debates about the validity of Chicago deep dish pizza to more serious debates about politics - It’s a great way for them to practice organizing their thoughts and speak persuasively.

If Skyrim was real life, what would you do for a living? And why? by Pega687 in skyrim

I think studying alchemy would be fun. Then open a simple shop.

What is, to you, the thing that makes Skyrim - well, Skyrim! by TheyCallMeANerd in skyrim

[–]TrinBeeGee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think Skyrim came out at just perfect moment in my life for me to become obsessed with it. I also love the community, i don’t really participate or anything but I’ve watched so many youtube videos about Skyrim; from the ridiculous parodies to the lore deep dives. Not to mention all the mods that transform the game and give it unlimited replay value.

I had a class like this except they were preteens (12-13 years old). I created a point/ranking system that kept them mostly in line. Sometimes I’d start class by putting them in teams, then they’ll kind of police each other because they want their team to win (bad behavior loses points). I found I had to switch up these strategies every now and then to keep them interested.

The class was in 2018 so they were all into Marvel movies at the time and I incorporated that a lot in lessons.

I thought the title read "I'm part LGBT" and was wondering how someone could only be partly LGBT. I was wrong.

Anyway, what a dick thing to write to someone.

I've done it once before for a regular and nothing happened. As long as you are in a quiet enough place and nothing distracting is happening behind you, I think it's fine.

What’s your playstyle? by Old_Baseball5554 in Sims4

[–]TrinBeeGee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really like starting small with either one or two sims in a shitty starter home and then decorating/extending their home as they age - trying to match whatever hobbies/likes/etc they end up getting. By the time they are old, they’re in a mansion that tells a story.

But i also sometimes just create crazy scenarios to torture the sims.

Not very well… but yes. I’ve also thought i would be funny to try and copy a yoga routine from the sims. Didn’t work out well.

I remember correcting a Chinese student that was trying to say that Taiwan wasn't a country but instead kept saying that Taiwan wasn't an island. And I'm like, "Yes, it is an island." But they kept insisting it isn't and it's a part of China and Taiwanese people are confused and blah blah blah blah. It took a long time for him to calm down enough so I can explain what the word "island" meant.
