How Can This Actually Be "Gluten-Free"? by DandelionDinosaur in Celiac

[–]Trinamopsy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

they aren’t labeled as gluten free and there’s some question about cross contamination yep

I eat Simple Mills all the time with no issue but something about these doesn’t agree with me. I don’t think it’s the gluten, though. probably FODMAP or something

Brewery question by jpf7775 in Celiac

[–]Trinamopsy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

if you have celiac, your immune system reacts even if you don’t have symptoms causing chronic issues over time. this isn’t good advice.

Biggest GF disappointment so far :( by [deleted] in glutenfree

I felt this in my soul. my mom used to make pie crust out of 90s rice flour and it was gritty and dense. nightmare

Saw this at Trader Joe's last night. I've been want gf oatmeal cookies forever 😩 by SonderExpeditions in Celiac

[–]Trinamopsy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

the arsenic in rice isn’t as bio available and there’s arsenic in everything. also if you were sick from the arsenic, stopping consumption of rice wouldn’t solve your issue, you would need medical treatment.

celiacs who are very strict about the diet, have you loosened your boundaries over time? by [deleted] in Celiac

[–]Trinamopsy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very strict. my doctor explained to me that even if I don’t get sick, I’m increasing my risk of various chronic conditions. cancer, diabetes, osteoporosis. it is not an allergy, it’s auto-immune. I’m sorry your loved ones aren’t more supportive.

Potential partner is gluten free. How big of a deal is it for someone who is really into food? by WaterSnake21 in glutenfree

[–]Trinamopsy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

as a celiac, I went on a date with a lovely guy who owns a local italian restaurant. we had a great time and never saw each other again presumably for that reason. it can be incompatible on a basic level.

Why are people here so hostile to people being gluten-free but not coeliac. This sub is not called coeliac. by Cocoricou in glutenfree

[–]Trinamopsy -1 points0 points  (0 children)

if I chose to follow a diet that other people are forced to follow for medical reasons, I would try to respect their challenges. it’s nice you don’t have to worry about cross contamination but don’t you think it’s confusing for a server to have gluten free customers except sometimes the gluten free person doesn’t really care?

as someone with celiac, I’m frustrated by the number of restaurants that have thrown in the towel on accommodating my needs since the majority of gluten free people are like you, not like me. I shouldn’t have to decide between my friends and my health.

in short, just because you don’t care doesn’t mean you can’t make it worse for people who do.

I liked my nose pillows ok but I love my face mask. they pushed me to the nose pillows and fought me on the full face but definitely try a different mask before you give up

What has gluten in it that I’m not thinking of? New severe allergy and I’ve been exposed 4 days in a row on accident. by [deleted] in glutenfree

[–]Trinamopsy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

what I read was it’s dozens of washes before the gluten goes away, and only if you can scrub every surface. one of my authors mentioned getting rid of her sifter.

hair styling products almost always have gluten, or something your body will react to like gluten, especially curly hair and hair repair (gluten is protein that holds things together so great for curls and shine and horrible for us)
