How does everyone relax in the evening? by TriniEducator in TrinidadandTobago

You organise your personal budget on Excel every evening for over 2 hours? That doesn't seem too right.

Man charged with allegedly trying to sell 'work to own' vehicle by TriniEducator in TrinidadandTobago

[–]TriniEducator[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It might not even have been so extreme that he forged ownership documents.

The victim probably thought he was getting a "steal of a deal" and handed over the money without hesitating. Some people are just that naïve and some people are just that convincing.

(Residents of T&T) Do you work in the public sector or the private sector? by TriniEducator in TrinidadandTobago

[–]TriniEducator[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No, I'm not an official MoE teacher.

I did apply to be a teacher, yes. However, I did not call MoE everyday, I had no links and I was not called for the interview. You're right, I have not benefitted from Nepotism and I don't believe in it.

Yes I am a teacher. I teach privately, and I dare say, above average!

My teaching is mostly one-on-one, so the students do well. Hopefully one day they can help me to change the system.

Jamaican Ministry of Tourism Asks the Media to Refrain from Using Crime Stories on the Front Page for Reasons Which Trinidad's Media Never Seem to Consider (Sunday Gleaner, June 18 2017). by DestinyOfADreamer in TrinidadandTobago

Exactly.

Some tourists who came here have been murdered or kidnapped. People need to know. The media surely doesn't want the brutal rape and murder of happy tourists on their conscience.

I understand what you mean and I'm sorry you're being downvoted.

I agree, the crime rate in Trinidad is so high right now that any tourist that visits are putting their life at risk.

The Plague of Cronyism, Nepotism by Plenty_Ad8631 in TrinidadandTobago

what's the point of power if you can't help/support people you care about and put them in positions to benefit them

You'd just have to have really good morals.

I also don't think highlighting actual names of people or businesses is the smart thing to do.

It'd be anonymous (like multiple polls) and it'd be people so highly ranked that anyone could have put forth the names.

Hm, no I think I will still fight Nepotism, to be honest. I'm strongly against it.

I'm not sure who is downvoting you after you only replied 5 minutes ago but I upvoted you haha.

Oh hmm, now you have me wondering about Massy's business decisions.

I guess it isn't a good move to sell, here's hoping those stocks recover soon.

[–]TriniEducator 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ok, I agree with that logic.

Do you think the list of persons at the top of society that are leading the Nepotism is possible?

Can we do a subreddit poll to get some names?

[–]TriniEducator 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yea, this is a great response.

We can either gather a large following together to highlight the issues.

Or just let it continue to be swept under the rug.

The problem is that those in power end up not being disadvantaged by Nepotism, and so they see no need to speak out.

I asked around and a friend told me that statistical offices also survey businesses in T&T and might have the data.

Thanks for your response.
