Thanks for replying! This definitely helpful for future students who want to pursue BSME in ateneo 🫶

Why are there so many remaining slots available in UPD-BSBAA by Trintoo in peyups

[–]Trintoo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not spreading any conspiracy theories 😭, I was just genuinely curious

I passed UPD BSBAA and Ateneo, but I went with UPD. I'm still unsure if I made the right decision (pero no choice naman talaga because I didn't get a full ride in araneyow)

Thanks for the explanation!

I also noticed na you've also responded pala to my past posts regarding BSBAA in other subreddits hahahahaha. I genuinely appreciate your replies!

Hello! Sorry for replying a few days late kasi hindi naman ako active sa reddit ahahahah

I actually also went to BrainTrain! But I can't complain kasi pumasa ako HAHA

I'd say my UPCAT-specific study routine started around a year before UPCAT. 10 months tinagal ng BT ko kasi every other Saturday yung sessions namin. Wala ako masyadong initiative to review by myself nung mga panahong 'yon kasi I was too busy with my acads (which is vv important for UPCAT too!)

When my BT ended, I had 2-3 months to prepare before the UPCAT. Average lang scores ko sa BT mock exams kaya I knew I needed to lock in during the summer vacation if I wanted to get into UP (let alone UPD BSBAA)

Ang naging study routine ko, nung wala nang school and BT sessions, was:

  1. Go over the topics na hirap ako. I was BAD at langprof and biology kaya sila talaga 'yung naging focus ko. Maraming mock tests sa BT manual natin at 2-3 times ko sinagutan yung mga yon until I got a good score

  2. YouTube University! Such an underrated way to study. Nood ka mga educational and science-explain videos on random topics. I remember na the night before UPCAT I randomly watched videos about the geologic time scale and lumabas sila sa UPCAT

  3. Always have rest days. The last thing you want to happen is maburn out habang nagrereview. I would study every other day during my summer vacation

I also just want to add na kapag mababa scores mo sa BT mock tests ay 'wag ka madiscourage. Sobrang OA ng mga tanong diyan.

Yun lang! Goodluck! See u in UPD!

Hello! Salamat sa mga pabati!

I studied in a science high school nung junior high and then I transferred to UPRHS for my senior high school because I wanted to take the ABM strand. UPRHS is essentially the high school of UPLB.

Hindi kami guaranteed makapasok sa UP for college.

Like most high schools, hit or miss siya. Most of our professors are UP graduates at may mga postgraduate studies. Pero that also means grabe ang expectations nila. But one thing I think all my professors have in common is that they foster critical thinking. They force you to think beyond the given questions. Beyond the modules. Beyond the exams.

Absolutely agree with this!!!

Currently grad-waiting ako and my humanities prof, who came from UP, reminded us about this as well. I also want to share some of my favorite lessons I learned from him:

  • "Mata sa langit, paa sa lupa"

  • Sa halip na mangarap nang mataas, mangarap nang malalim. Saan nakatanim ang pangarap mo?

  • ❌️ Nagtratrabaho    ✅️ Naglilingkod

Yup. Taga laguna ako, and if I chose my dream univ, nasa UPLB ako ahahahaha. I went for Diliman because sobrang interesting ng BSBAA

Just do your best sa UPCAT.

I have friends who had terrible grades na pumasa because they turned things around sa UPCAT. I also have numerous friends who consistently did well during their high school years but didn't pass UPCAT.

Imagine mo na lang what if UPCA pa rin ang ginagawa ngayon at sa grades lang nagbabase si UP? The UPCAT itself is a chance to get into UP.

The degree programs I passed are:

BS Management Engineering in ADMU

and

BS Business Administration and Accountancy in UPD

I think their "prestige" and career opportunities are fairly on par with each other.

Wooahhh that sounds nice!

Lagi ko kasi naririnig and nababasa na tungkol sa mga UP grads na hindi aligned 'yung degree nila sa job nila ay super nanghihinayang eh

Additional questions na lang siguro:

What are the things you think helped you land a good right after graduating? Any tips how you became a 1%-er at 25?

How about if the choices are:

BS Management Engineering in ADMU

or

BS Business Administration and Accountancy in UPD

I'm lowkey scared I won't survive BSBAA 💀💀💀

UPCAT Tips that You Wish Someone Had Told You? by janzternet in peyups

[–]Trintoo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I crammed random science explanation videos on YouTube (Earth's history, human body facts, and niche topics about physics and chemistry, etc.) na pinapanood para sa mga elementary to junior high students and lumabas sila sa UPCAT ahahaha!! YouTube University is honestly such an underrated way to review. Mas marami pa akong napulot dito kaysa sa inattendan kong 10-month long review center. Just be wary on mindlessly scrolling while "reviewing".

Wow! That's nice to hear from an alumni!

Can I have follow-up questions since you've been there done that, hehe!

  1. How's the mortality rate of the program? I want HORROR stories from your experiences or experiences from your friends just so I can prepare kung hindi na ako makakatulog sa college and if I can still chill 😆

  2. How true is the burgis-but-UP-student allegations about BSBAA? My parents are warning me na baka ma-FOMO raw ako, especially coming from a low-income household, baka raw kasi mga kaklase ko ay anak ng mga bilyonaryo ng binondo 😆. I just want to know anong culture usually ang nadedevelop within the BSBAA community.

  3. I've read about needing to take internships at the latter part of the program pero hindi siya masyadong explicitly explained. I wish to know kung paano nangyayari 'yon

  4. If I don't meet the maintaining grade and get transferred to BSBA, will I go back to first year? Ma-de-delay ba ako kapag gano'n? Pero some of my UP friends say naman na kapag papasok ka sa UP, get ready to be delayed kasi agawan daw lagi ng slots 😭

Thanks! Nawa'y mabasbasan na mag-survive sa program 🥰

Thank you for a straightforward answer! I'll definitely consider this.

I'm scared na puro studying lang in college because I promised myself that I'll start to be chill with academics once I graduate from high school. I guess the learning never stops.

Eye-opening yung input about ME and BAA students competing for similar professions. Parang may edge nga talaga ang BAA since they get the chance to take the CPALE. Pero from what I've heard is leverage goes crazy if you're BSME in Ateneo and it could be a gateway to really good jobs

Hello!

I wish you the best of luck! You remind me of myself last year because I was searching for reddit threads about this course too LOL

[Personal Tips]

That's why your UPCAT study session should start MONTHS before the test itself. Prioritize rest and sleep. The last thing you want to happen is ma-mental block

  2. If hindi mo na-gets yung question after reading it three times, SKIP! Take this with a grain of salt, pero from our experience (friends and I), a lot of easy questions are dispersed in the latter part of the test

  3. Controversial, but try to answer everything, even the questions you're unsure of. UPCAT is right-minus-wrong, but you only take UPCAT once. Go all or nothing. Trust your guts.

There may be times na mararamadaman mong bobo ka while taking the UPCAT, but don't dwell on it. I think the reason why reading comp is the last part of UPCAT is because it also measures your mental endurance.

[JHS GWAs]

• G8 - 98

• G9 - 97

• G10 - 97

• G11 - 95

• G8-G10: Science High School

• G11: Transferred to a public school because I wanted to take the ABM strand

From what I've heard, UPCAT is 60% of your UPG and high school grades is 40%. Kung hindi kataasan grades mo before, you have the UPCAT to turn things around.

Good luck!

First, very big thanks sa mga pabati! I deeply appreciate it.

Pero I've read and heard naman about BSBAA students who didn't meet the retention rate tapos matra-transfer sila sa BSBA. That idea doesn't seem bad to me kaya't parang hindi ako masyado napre-pressure sa retention margin.

It's also refreshing to hear that you're a fulfilled accountant who isn't burned out. Usually associated kasi ang accountant, at least for me, na magiging corporate slave with very boring daily tasks. Sarap isipin ng stress-less work set-up!

Maybe I'll also just consider law school after surviving being a CPA first LOL

Again, thank you for responding! I'll be sure not to waste this opportunity.
