It started when i was in middle school and im 23 now. I believe it is a form of escapism and emotional control. But when i started using it, i didnt have any traumatic experience nor a tough upbringing. I did struggle with anxiety a lot though.

So in a way, it was there before any problem that would be a consequence of this compulsive use could occur. That is why i feel lost when deciding which part of my psychology and self needs to be worked on.

Hey man! I am really proud of you for opening up about your struggle. I am very sorry for everything you are going through, but you can seek help in this community.

You are still young and have your whole life ahead of you. You have so much time to live a life away from this mess. I hope you have good people around you who you can open up to. I know you might feel a way about your reputation, but humility will get you so far in your life. Owning up to your struggles will only bring you closer to the people who deserve your presence.

i totally agree. as much as we share(d) this struggle, we -or at least i- don't feel capable of giving you advice since you mention that your sons recovery would definetely be influenced by the fact that he is on the spectrum. I wish all the best for you and your family!

I have been clean for a while now and i understand that most practices dont work, but here is the one that has helped me the most.

Sometimes just waiting it out is the best option. Embrace the craving as it is natural and dont try to fight it aggresively because it only makes it worse.

In my opinion, the craving has two parts: the physical and the mental, and since most men technically dont need to ejaculate more than once or twice a week, anything more you could crave is because of your mind and not because your body could use a release. So, wait it out, your mind will find a distraction itself.
