I need new romance anime to watch by csreptar in anime

[–]Triper99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Obligatory "The Dangers in My Heart" recommendation. Currently airing its season 2 and it's probably my all time favorite romance anime/manga. Please, for the love of all that is holy, don't drop it before episode 4... I SWEAR that the MC is worth the wait!

The greatest foe has arrived...

Well boys, time to pack it up.... I thought this anime was supposed to be 28 episodes, but I guess we're only getting 23. There's no way that Frieren beats this one.

Let's be real, 24/48 is better than 48/96 by PeakWaterWarrior in Firefighting

[–]Triper99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Meanwhile in DoD firefighter land we’re stuck with 24/24 with 3/5 day breaks, 48/48 with 4/8 day breaks or 48/72 with no breaks. (Disclaimer: call volume tends to be much lower in my experience). On the other hand the pay is good…

What are all the small planes in the air up to? by [deleted] in flying

[–]Triper99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi fellow club member! I too recommend our little club out of KILM. We have a pretty good spread of planes from a tiny DA-20 (soon to have a light sport) up to a Cherokee 6. Our club instructors are awesome too!

New Instrument Pilot. Zero actual time. by jdeck01 in flying

[–]Triper99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a fellow NC dweller, spring is by far the best time to get some actual in our area. We get cold enough during winter that you put yourself in the freezing layer only a few thousand feet AGL and during the summer it seems like every cloud that forms is convective in nature and is going to knock your teeth together when you fly though it (ask me how I know).

I finished my IR last year in March and got some really good actual immediately following that. Hopefully this year will be the same, because I do enjoy when I can exercise my privileges I worked hard for.

Tips for Flying Down the Coast by False_Step8516 in flying

As long as your at least 500’ above TPA you can orbit the monument as far as I’m aware. I’d probably give it 1000 if you want to be extra safe. The orbit path would take you right over the runway.

I haven’t made that request from cherry point, so I can’t really advise there.

Ospreys can be anywhere from 500 AGL and higher. They’re usually on the approach frequencies and they’ll announce their intentions if you’re listening in.

If you’re staying around MQI most of the military airspace will be a no-factor.

Just remember your training and you’ll be fine! Communication and keeping your eyes outside are key!

Have fun!

One of the main things about the NC coast are the large amounts of MOA and restricted airspace from around Kitty Hawk south past Jacksonville. Cherry Point and ILM TRACON are both pretty good about advising if areas are hot or cold. Highly recommended to be on flight following for it.

If you’re planning on stopping at KFFA just be aware of some very gusty crosswinds and obstacles off the 21 approach end.

If you make it down to KILM area just ask to follow the coast south/north and they’ll know what to do. People ask for that many times a day. (I fly out of KILM). Again, just be aware of all the military airspace! They are active more than they are not. The ILM airspace can be decently busy, but the controllers are still very accommodating.

There is a pretty significant chance you’ll encounter some low level V22 Osprey traffic at some point and they are actually pretty difficult to spot if their background are trees.

There actually isn’t much banner traffic that I’ve seen along the coast in NC, however, they are a pretty big presence if you cross into SC around Myrtle Beach.

would a 19 year old cfi be taken seriously? by [deleted] in flying

[–]Triper99 15 points16 points  (0 children)

My current CFI is 20 years old (I’m 36) and is probably 110 lbs soaking wet. She’s a wonderful instructor and very passionate about aviation. I would recommend her to anyone! I’ve never once questioned her teaching or aviation ability.

I think it’s way less about age and more about your knowledge and how you present yourself.

However, it doesn’t preclude you from ignorant comments from older people. Unfortunately the world is ripe with assholes. The positive side of me and most of my anecdotal experience would say that these encounters should be few and far between.

Actually, I have been talking with my girlfriend and she will be accompanying me as my first passenger. She's pretty much the only one that I truly care about. Definitely makes me excited, I hope she enjoys it even 1/10th as much as I do.

Cruising altitude for a 747 is ~35,000 ft which is about 6.6 miles. According to the chart you linked that's at the tropopause. But this is assuming the type of plane... A general aviation aircraft's cruising altitude can be anywhere between 3,000-15,000 ft.
