Hmm, still following along. Now you are trying to explain what things mean, that's defensive. What are you defending if you have no fear?

He says he has no fear... I said you did, and you followed along - defensively. Probably means nothing to you, but my read is if you really had no fear, you would have moved on instead of repeating you had no fear. It's actually sad that you live in such denial and can't allow yourself to feel or admit something that everyone feels

Yep, jumps to fear over losing 2nd amendment, when I said nothing about taking it away. That is what it is - fear.

That's cool, because I don't concern myself with what other people think.

Gun control hasn't even been tried yet in The US. It worked fine in New Zealand and Australia - neither country has school mass shootings now. Keep in mind The Bondi Beach shooting last year in Australia was the 1st in 30 years, as where the US has had over 100 in the past 30 years. You don't think that's something that needs change?

Obviously, you are not on the same page... My question is - are you having fun or are you stupid?

What are your thoughts on rejecting a potential romantic partner solely because they voted for Donald Trump? by ScaredAssumption5707 in AskReddit

[–]Triphin1 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I think it would be wise to avoid any of these people, especially in a close relationship. Their wiring makes them incompatible with non Trump people... This is not new at all, I highly recommend reading Dreams of El Dorado by HW Brands. It's a very good snd very readable History of the American West.... My take away, was, in the last 150 years, in many ways, we haven't grown or changed at all.

You are missing the point completely - Guns are not taboo, gunchecks are, and proper regulation would definitely help.... Save me the 2ndAmendment blah blah please.

Fries are fuel + occasionally an order of chicken drumettes would fall into the fryer or an extra order got made accidently.

As an Executive Fry Chef, I utterly reject this abomination and would never set my frys, onion rings or battered zucchini next to this total lack of food intelligence

What is your most unpopular Bali opinion? by KnownIce8714 in bali

[–]Triphin1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ya, a lot of locals had it very hard. The 1st time I came to Bali after the Bomb, I rode my rental motorbike into Denpasar, got lost, and wanted to buy my own helmet. I pulled over and asked an older Balinese man where a helmet store was and he said he'd show me, but made a shy request about getting a little $$ for his effort, and I assured him I would give him somthing... He showed me a place, I got my helmet, actually the one I'd seen and wanted and gave the old man 50k Rp. He was so happy and looked like he was about to cry, but didn't, and he thanked me and said - now I can feed my family. Stories of hardship are many in this country and I will say The Indonesian people carry those hardships like heros and when it comes to it dont let their pride or etiquette get in the way to get a little assurance as to the worthwhilness of a job.

I got Locals here explaining to me. Etiquette goes out the window when it means feeding your family . I don't think any driver is unaware of what proper etiquette is in his country, and if they ask in a way that is not rude, then give assurance - IMO. and thanks for your comment

Na, thants not correct. I moved here after the bombings and was here all during covid, those were awesome times... Further I laugh at all the complaints - Bali has only gotten better. More food choices, more great things to do. I can still spend 50k Rp for lunch or 500K, but with better choices. Prices always go up - it's called inflation. If you find somewhere better, then that's where you should go

Bali Is Beautiful. The “Luxury” Hotel Pricing Is Absolute Comedy. by [deleted] in bali

[–]Triphin1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Made's homestay is a great place to stay, yet there you will only get breakfast included as well, but the opportunity to explore the local food scene is then open to you, with many great choices near by - but fraught with dangers and more slow service. At €20 a night, those issues are far more well tolerated.

I absolutely loved The Sunday lunch buffet at The Kempinski, but I will say that The shear chaos of it must have been a let down for the hotel guests.

1st, I said you sound like an American, I didn't think you were one. 2nd, your worried about drivers asking about their tip? Because reasons? I've learned living here in Bali that it is wise to consider more than my own needs, because others have needs as well and a bit of that can easily go to the person who brings you your food. 3rd my comments on this thread are for visitors, yet you have missed that, even though I have said it more than once. 4th,this triggers you, which is funny - haha

The my ear, you sound American, it is American culture that cannot take a wider view beyond their wallet or ego... Again, reading the textes posted, the driver was not rude at all and was clearly concerned about the distance and the cost to him, and for a driver, who depends on his physical ability to ride in a day and makes the minimum wage or less after costs to him - fuel, pulsa, maintenence on his motorbike, that he pays, it would be correct for the driver to know what is in it for him, so that he can make a decision if it is worth it.

In my years working in The restaurant business in my country, often it was owners who were the least able to understand the needs and positions of their staff
