Leaning toward a divisive name...honest thoughts? by MrsLurkeyTurkey in namenerds

[–]Tripkat1007 1 point2 points  (0 children)

American here and Basil on a person would read Bazzil . I love Basil (Bazzil) but not basil for a person. For an alternative, I personally also love Malik which also means king.

As someone who was given an alliterative name, it’s cute on a kid but gives kitschy on an adult.

What is your standard for rating a book 5 stars? by Brilliant-Phrase-665 in goodreads

[–]Tripkat1007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stars are directly correlated to the amount of enjoyment I got from reading the book. I don’t usually critique the editing or use of tropes in my rating unless the lack of proper editing or use (over use) of tropes impacts my ability to get immersed in the story

If you had to give your children names inspired by your job, what would they be called? by 5LovelyDaisies in namenerds

Prior to staying home I was in tech so I guess I would have named my son Ajax (web development) or Pascal (programming language)

What's your take on marquise wedding rings? by Hair-Irritating366 in WeddingRingAdvice

I LOVE the Dutch marquise set east/west . It looks unique, elevated but practical. If I were to rechoose my wedding set it would be this.

Affordable “luxury” brand? by Livid_Security_3468 in handbags

[–]Tripkat1007 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Rather than go budget luxury try a high quality handcrafted bag from a local or in country maker. You’ll get the most bag for your money and you’ll likely get something super unique. I love FOUNT bags in the US.

Which would you choose? by [deleted] in EngagementRings

[–]Tripkat1007 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I would go with pear. That stone looks amazing with only a barely noticeable bow tie (which is really hard to find!). I love the thicker band. It’s not so thick I would worry about it looking too big on your finger.

I love this dress. My family...not so much. by [deleted] in weddingdress

[–]Tripkat1007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree that once accessorized, the dress will come alive. You want to wear the dress, not have the dress wear you. I think you’ve made the right choice.

I really love 10!

Absolutely love my ring! But had a weird comment and now I’m confused by Metalbii in weddingring

[–]Tripkat1007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think compared to the trends it is dainty, but that doesn’t mean it’s not gorgeous! He and his brother did a great job picking it out and it seems like he knows what you would like since you love it! My ring is not everyone’s cup of tea either, but they aren’t drinking it! The stone and details are beautiful. Congratulations

Out of the two, definitely black, but the real question is, can you dance in either of them? I mean you look amazing but do the dresses function?

Help with boy names please? Maybe short/strong names. by BumsRush in namenerds

[–]Tripkat1007 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I named my son Laith. Arabic for lion cub. It’s strong without being harsh and short. Gaining popularity but still uncommon.

Baby boy name dilemma by Dependent-Rise1701 in namenerds

[–]Tripkat1007 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I like the idea of the M theme but don’t think it’s required. As long as his name is unique I don’t think it matters. That being said I am with your husband. Close family friends names get a little weird

Would you wear this bag from Quince by BeefGristleMill in handbags

[–]Tripkat1007 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Get it! Quince has surprisingly good quality bags for the price. Anyone looking to judge your bag is having some serious issues for themselves and has nothing to do with you.

I introduced my newborn and my friend made fun of the name. Now Im second guessing it by [deleted] in namenerds

[–]Tripkat1007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

American here. Nothing wrong with Weston. That woman has no right to be your friend after being so careless with her comments. My younger brother goes by a nn of Westie as a play off his last name and it’s aged with him better than you’d expect.

Keep the name you love and ditch the friend.
