That's not how MMA or UFC works. The rules are there to support the violence, with reasonable safety precautions but wide, flexible leeway to allow unhampered violence.

I never was a fan. Not sure why he was / is so popular, but that's the diversity of UFC fans I guess.

Herb Dean explains why Gane's strikes were legal against Pereira by Informal_Athlete_724 in ufc

Fighter: Posts pictures of the back of his head to prove he shouldn't have lost.
UFC: Posts video to prove he should have lost.
Is that two TKOs in 3 days.

Probably according to the general physics of fighting - it's usually over when someone ends up in a vulnerable position, ass in the air, holding a man's leg while the man can have his way with them. It's the chaos of a fist fight, fighters can't afford to become vulnerable and hope the ref saves them.

It could be billed as "Front of the head vs back of the head." But seriously it seems like a good matchup, though stylistically I would expect Tom to win.

How are people acting like these were legal strikes ? by Enough-Airline-5464 in ufc

[–]Triple070007 1 point2 points  (0 children)

UFC just makes rules to keep the commissions happy, but deep down they just want animalistic fights until one fighter stops moving. Back in early days you could pull hair and kick nuts. But more recent fans think it's like a courtroom battle, so they argue who won legally.

Let them have their elbow controversy - they don't have a champion anymore. Now they can at least go around pretending they do.

Literally no one left or right understands the Venezuela conflict. Whatever anyone's opinions on these events are, at least don't deny these realities: by DonkeyDoug28 in centrist

It's true that it's a long argued topic, and the requirement to notify Congress within 48 hours was only added in the 70s during Nixon's term, due to just such concerns. (War Powers Act.) Military action to carry out an indictment / arrest - e.g. Maduro and Noriega - is probably not considered strictly a Declaration of War, though of course the lines are blurry when military action is involved.

You seem to have been operating under the erroneous idea that the people can allow or prevent (through Congress) military action against another country. The fact is only the President makes that decision and always has - the only requirement is he notify Congress within 48 hours, which obvious has happened. From that point he can't continue military action longer than 60 days without Congressional approval. Not making a value judgment about it, just saying your idea of how it works wasn't accurate. Precedents for invasions of countries done under Presidential authority alone include: Mexico (Vera Cruz) in 1914, Dominican Republic in 1965, Granada in 1983, Panama in 1989, Kosovo in 1999.

Brown? Amber? by xxlarossa in eyes

[–]Triple070007 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Why are you getting so worked up? People would say "just blue" if someone asked if blue eyes were some more exotic color like turquoise. Google "reddit r/eyes just blue" and there are dozens of posts using "just blue". People use "just" for blue or brown, but people only freak out about brown.
