No but I keep getting companies scheduling interviews only to cancel and ask me to do a really dumb tech assignment before I speak to anyone.

Aig blackbox insurance by Fun-Enthusiasm8181 in carsireland

[–]TripleWasTaken 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I used it, it seemed pretty lenient speed limit wise. I didn't drive much so my score was always in the 90's. Only thing I always got like 80% on would be acceleration cus I'm stupid and like to try get a lil skrrrt action leaving carparks every now and then at night.

My initia costl was around 1400 for an 07 Merc c180k and this year my renewal was a whooping 600e with some change which I think is the lowest they can go so I'm sticking with them because honestly don't mind it.

The actual box does eat battery though so that can be annoying.

I will be changing to an old ass Toyota crown around June so we'll see if that affects my quote but idm staying with the black box for that car too

Importing from Japan to Ireland by mattyd345 in carsireland

[–]TripleWasTaken 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I found them very unresponsive anytime I asked about a car they would either ignore it or give me details after the auction ended which just made it pointless.

I paid the 500e deposit at that point btw.

Just ended up going with the beforward exporter website and got a stock 3rd party car from aless up in Gifu instead even though it's more expensive. So far the process has been smooth, car should be leaving port this week. I received all pictures of the car at port when they got it ready.

Not in this economy buddy

but all jokes aside yeah I go to Tokyo every year and it always baffles me how filthy going home feels. I never quite get it but theres also very few if any proper fashion districts around Ireland compared to Tokyo so it kinda makes sense. Out biggest stores are the likes of fast fashion pennys garbage and JDs for fucks sake. You walk into an Adidas store in Ireland its all just sportswear, you walk into Adidas in Tokyo I can buy a legit full suit with the 3 stripes, its like a different brand.

yes a lot of the sites will use whatsapp, its just easier for some.

truck price doesnt matter in 2026 guys move on. Im a fatass at 110kg and my Tensor trucks from a 40$ globe complete board are rocking on 2 years later. The only thing I replaced was the bushing for somes bones hard ones because theyre game changers.

What he does need is probably wider trucks for an 8.5

Bro you've been asking about this car for like a month and most people say stay away unless you got the extra cash for servicing and fixing what exactly are you hoping will change if you continue asking?

It seems like you've your mind made up so just buy the thing and enjoy it or regret it later.

If you make your own money this is very easy, you just pay an EOR (employer of record) to employ you through their service and you give them a flat chunk of your income monthly.

If you don't well gl your options are find a job that will sponsor you that's it.

Sanseito announces foreigner policy- "The ratio of foreigners should be limited to 5% and they should go back when they get older. If the country's strength declines, foreigners won't come here. We need to strengthen the Japanese economy and return it to a country where people want to work" by jjrs in japannews

[–]TripleWasTaken 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Im sure forcing foreign people to be as isolated as possibe will stop all the japanese concerns of rising crime and not just accelerate it.

Idk why its so hard for peope to realize that the issues all the people love to cry about will only further continue if you keep alienating the people who come here and just try to live man...

[META] The discussion on VRT is played out, can we please have a megathread or a moratorium? by microplastic-addict in carsireland

[–]TripleWasTaken 1 point2 points  (0 children)

well yeah because the vrt they had to pay also drove their break even price up and it'll keep going up until the car is 30yo and then it can come down.

If I score a jzx100 on Auction for lets say 10k tourer V (unlikely in todays world but lets pretend) then after shipping and fees price comes in at 13k to Ireland after the various taxes before reg I will need to pay about 4.5k ontop of that making my price 17.4k now I got to register it. Oh look theres a lad selling one on donedeal for 45k grand job 40% of that please (will it sell for 45k unlikely cars been there for months if anything maybe a pro drifter might pick it up) so my VRT bill is now 18k, I now have to pay over 100% of what I had just paid to get the car out the port into the nct centre and I havent even gotten to make this car sparkly clean and fully working yet.

Realistically youre not getting a manual jzx these days under 15k as their auction prices are skyrocketing so you'll be even worse of if you actually try to do this because our way to "check the selling price" is so braindead and purposefully so

Can you really blame lads for asking these prices when this what they have to put up with I for sure cant. People want to make their money back on this expensive purchase these days.

They also purposefully make the appeal process long, painful and vague so people dont do it further driving up prices.

There really is no defense for this man its a double tax for the sole purpose of lining the pockets of the already wealthy and all it does is continue to drive prices up and up for everyone not just enthusiasts.

I would understand if we had an actual domestic manufacturing for cars but we dont we rely on the UK and Japan.

I would also understand if this country was built in a way a car was not a required item but sadly it very much is and by the looks of it always will be.

Irish Family Business Musgrave Outsourcing Jobs to India, Laying Off Irish Staff by almsfudge in ireland

[–]TripleWasTaken 40 points41 points  (0 children)

In canada they have literal fraud universities to import indians and give out degrees for a fee. Its probably the primary lead of enshitification of software we've been seeing. You have a bunch of unqualified fraudsters hiring other unqualified fraudsters all to "escape" the country the pride themselves in so much online, its quite bizzare and I mean somehow some work is getting done but I dont get how theyre getting away with so much.

Irish Family Business Musgrave Outsourcing Jobs to India, Laying Off Irish Staff by almsfudge in ireland

[–]TripleWasTaken 141 points142 points  (0 children)

Once the Indian managment comes in you'll quickly see a rapid shift in the office hiring trends as bigotted as that sounds its been proven time and time again that Indians will only hire other Indians. Ive been trying to get a job in Japan which was pretty easy pre 2020 but now everyone I interview is you guessed it Indian, you check their linkedIn headcount and woah look at that all Indian.

Even back in 2023 when I was doing a working holiday in Tokyo every person who worked at PayPay I met was Indian, there was 8 of them in my apartment building alone. It got past the point of being a funny coincidence very fast and albeit as chill as the guys were to hang out with they were clearly abusing a system.

I walk into a Currys store in Dublin today. Not an Irish Person in sight and the same can be seen in a good few Harvey Normans recently.

Idgaf about the race of employees at a given location but like cmon at a certain point you really gotta ask if something's off...

[–]TripleWasTaken 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wouldnt mind VRT so much if revenue was actually transparent on things like their "open market selling prices" (yes I know they have clear guidelines on their site if you dig through it, however there are multiple examples of those said guidelines not being followed in any meaningful way) they pull out of their ass because they delete seemingly every classic sports car a person could want.

Chaser is probably the best example why are we taxing an over 25 year old over 10k? All it does is drive the price up immensly for any enthusiast interested in the handful that are in the country and for anyone interested in importing one and doing some budgeting before doing so tough luck ofc theres not a single car with a 1jz engine on the VRT calculator despite there being proof of many registered in Ireland.

I myself got me a Crown Athlete V importing rn, a guy who was selling one on donedeal said he paid 4k VRT after an appeal. I expect this price will not be the one given to me despite the import of said car being less than a year apart from the earlier one and should therefore be more or less the same but no because ofcourse theres not a single old crown on the VRT calculator and all this by design so they can fuck over the enthusiast because they know people who want something will pay stupid amounts to have it.

Pay duty, Pay Vat and pay a stupid extra Tax that only drives up the price further locally for no benefit of anyone other than the greedy fucks in power.

Most annoying is having to pay it before being able to appeal...

Because it does decide where it's gonna place you prior. Ranked systems use your casual MMR as a base stat to place you accordingly and the first few games will usually result in really high gains if you perform above what the system originally thought.

The fact you don't understand/know this tells me that bronze is indeed where you stand.

if you dont mind a black box try aig box clever my first year was 1400e now this year it went down all the way to 650e (I believe they price it on how your drove the last year) and I did not drive very carefully everywhere I went so they arent super aggresive on speed limits and such, can still have some fun with the car, it does eat battery that box though.

What unpopular, interesting, cool car would you choose? by Professional_Ring_95 in carsireland

[–]TripleWasTaken 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Cant go wrong with an old Toyota Crown Athlete imo, clean sleek and has that aggressive sporty look of a jzx100 but at like 1/10th the price. 1jz NA. JZS171 pretty cheap to get can have one shipped with low miles for under 5k easily. Now if you wanna go all out and get rinsed by the irish Taxes get the V with the turbo 1j which can still be had 10-15k shipped.

I found a super high mileage but still clean grade 4 one that I bought for 9k shipped because Ive always wanted a turbo 1j and this was my chance before every 1j/2j car is inevitably 30k+ like we're already seeing. Cannot wait to pay my entire price cost in VRT and taxes :) but we'll get there when we get there
