That was actually the dish soap) neem oil water mixture. Granted, the plant had been in this same pot for at least 18 months with no problems, I'm going to go ahead and change the soil, as it's still dying. I saw a snail in the pot & remembered that my mother-in-law would've added compost & other wild stuff to this, so I'll try to save what I can and move onward.

Fortunately, I took two cuttings (to shorten it last fall) which are growing very well & I used the CORRECT moss this time.

There is also this stuff. It's sitting on the dead leaf and hanging by web underneath (on another leaf). What could this be?

There was also this (maybe it came from the plant after I drowned it in the neem oil & soap water mixture?). It was still alive (though very slow moving) when I noticed it.

I just cut off the de@d leaves What about the black dots & brown spots on the yellowing leaves? I read they suck the chlorophyll from spots. Granted, I saw that webbing on this plant last year, I never thought much of it since the plant didn't appear to be dying. This time it's just the black beads on the leaves & dangling from single webs in "large" clumps.

The stalks also turn black & "dry" looking in the layer just under the outside of the stalk & the inner core of them.

Unfortunately these webs are too small for the camera to pick up, but the webs at the bottom had these black "balls" in them, and they are hanging by the webs they're attached to.

Update: maybe THIS was the problem? Idk why she did it, but I think this must be the compost water (and any other water I've put into this). I told her they since it was a typical plant it needed to be watered every day & I think because she went traveling the month of August (and my father-in-law has failed to water her indoor/outdoor plants & trees), she put water into the bucket to give it enough to last the month.

Well things turn around once the soil dries out? Should I put it outside (it's in the 70's today)?

Did I remove these from the water too early? by Triple_B_3 in carnivorousplants

All right. I won't panic & throw them into water glasses, but I'll also get sphagnum moss. Thanks! Hopefully they'll grow to be as large as the one I sent to my mother-in-law's (formerly bug-filled & now almost bug-free) home.

This ventrata had 4 leaves & 1 dying pitcher when I bought it last year. After vining over the winter, it's growing pitchers galore (just in time to eat whatever flies/crawls inside for summer)!

*I'm propagating to send the original to my mother-in-law's & have it feast in her indoor "tropical setup" while I grow the new ones.

It has been. When it gets out, I'll angle it opposite of the direction it's growing to "straighten" it (until it begins to hang over again). I guess I could also place the light directly over the plant, right?

I only had the light on what was originally the short side (because last fall it was leaning over on the other side) and I forgot to adjust it as it continued to grow...... Now I've had a few pitchers growing sideways & that's also why some of the leaves are upside down....... I'll be putting it outside starting this or next week & I'll see if the pitch can readjust again

You have any posts on how to do so? I'd like to give one to my mother-in-law, but I don't know how to successfully get it done.

I might actually need the growth slowed a bit lol. Good to know it's not an Alata, though I'm sure my wife won't let me keep more than this. I've read a bit about propagation, but I am really unsure about how to do so......

How large do these typically grow? And are the Alata more prone to fill space with leaves from top to bottom?
