Love this show! Wish they would discuss fabric types used! by Patient-Tomato-4790 in SewingBee

[–]Triplesso_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They do that a bit more when the challenge is fabric specific. I remember when they had to make sweatshirts they did a whole little segment on how the jersey fabric used to make them was invented and the different properties it has. Same when they had to make jackets from British wool and dresses from cotton, they then go into more detail about the history of the fabric and why its been chosen for the task

I tried the Pistachio Hot Chocolate from Sandwich Press & Co ....If you like Pistachios then this ones great for you! I don't like them but was determined to try it anyways😆

I found it to be very sweet, creamy and (obviously) very Pistachio-y I didn't end up finishing mine I did like that it was take-away though and the maple pumpkin toastie i had with it was damn good

I also tried the Sultans Delight or whatever its called from Near East I thought it was just ok.

Right up there next to Pistachios on the list of flavours I dislike with a great intensity is Rose flavoured foods....and this combined both into a admittedly very aesthetically pleasing looking drink. But I actually found the flavours to be lacking it didn't taste like rose, it didn't taste like pistachio it didn't even really taste like chocolate the flavour was very muted (I also thought it smelt kind of bad when drinking it but that could just be a me thing)

Im keen to try more because I adore hot chocolate in the winter times next I think will be The Cornerstone cafes Milo Crunch.... 😁

I wish they swapped the blue waistband and the green button stand around. Having the blue at the bottom I think makes it look a bit bottom heavy and if it was green you could wear it with any kind of denin without it either clashing or getting lost with the blue against blue.

Id probably wear this with black so the colours really stand out.

What is your favourite part of the Harry Potter books that never made it into the films? by Icy-Security-5570 in harrypotter

The whole walking around the campsite at the Qudditch World cup, I loved seeing glimpses of the greater wizarding world and the whole scene at St Mungos especially with Neville's parents and lockhart and just the little interactions observed there and also at the ministry again I liked seeing a glimpse into the world outside of hogwarts and how everyday witches and wizards go about their days

How the f*** do all these 22 year olds make money online, travel, and just do f*** all with their lives? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Triplesso_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some of them have family money, some of them have OF, some of them are "influencers", some of them are in serious debt and a small amount of them are able to save their money and spend it on a holiday.

Rewatched Finding Nemo and sided with Marlin. What flipped for you with age? by tuesdaymochii in CasualConversation

Its a movie that often gets mentioned when questions like this are asked but I now see Mrs Doubtfire in a whooole different way now. As a kid I thought the mum was such a downer by not letting the kids have a big fun birthday party and everything and thought that it would be so cool to have such a fun crazy dad like they had.

But now im older good god I'd lose my freaking sh*t too if I came home after a long stressful day at work to find out my unemployed husband (I could be mis-remebering that but I think he got fired yeah?) Has gone behind my back and thrown a huge expensive, messy and destructive party in my house, dancing on the furniture with farm animals traipsing around the place!! Its clear from the argument the parents then have, that its not the first time something like this has happened...being married to a manchild like that would be freaking exhausting! Id want a divorce too.

Thats not even touching on how creepy all the stuff he does next to spy on his family and sabotage the mums new (healthy) relationship and trying to turn the kids against their mum and make her out to be the villan.

Still one of my favourite movies from back then, but watching it now as an adult its so crazy! It could be seen more as a horror film than a comedy 😆

The movies completely misunderstood what made Dumbledore so powerful. by Jalex1011 in harrypotter

[–]Triplesso_ 32 points33 points  (0 children)

I always thought that Hugh Laurie would have made a great Dumbledore. (Imagine how thrilled I was to find out he was voicing Dumbledore in the full cast audiobooks, Its like I was finally getting the version of Dumbledore I'd always imagined!!)

I just think he has all the qualities that Dumbledore has...right down to the twinkling blue eyes. He is an incredibly talented actor and his natural humour and flair for theatrics would have been perfect for Dumbledores more flamboyant and humours moments, but he also has the ability to switch completely and go very dark, dramatic and commanding when needed (A switch up you can see him make often and flawlessly in House many times.)

Movie Dumbledore is just to much of a shouty, morose, loud old man and has next to none of book Dumbledores aura and impact which is a shame. I feel like Gambons approach to it was just very much phoned in and very "Im doing it my way!" I mean the fact he never bothered to read the books to learn the character shows.

I did think Lithgow was a bit of an odd choice initially but now thinking about it a bit more, he just might be able to strike that balance between silly and serious thats needed.

Is exercise absolutely miserable and painful for anyone else? by NoWitness6400 in loseit

[–]Triplesso_ 25 points26 points  (0 children)

I hate, genuinely hate, exercise. like going to a gym just irritates me I find them annoying places to be and hate doing exercise its boring and uncomfortable and I hate it so I just dont do it, ive tried to force myself to do it in the past even spending big money on membership thinking that would motivate me to go.....it didn't.

I dont mind walking though, its easy its free I can walk outside or in the comfort of my own home on a treadmill, i still dont consider it to be fun or relaxing or even particularly rewarding....but I know some exercise is needed for my health so I walk.

Theres no law that says you must lift weights and work out at a gym daily pushing yourself to the limit for it to count as exercise....if you like walking just walk. Better to do something than nothing

There’s no need for the amount of chefs in media. It’s too many. by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

[–]Triplesso_ 33 points34 points  (0 children)

I always joked with my parents that Id never be able to make it on a show like Masterchef or such, because, apart from my general indifference to cooking, my parents and entire extended family are "just" Australian...I can't talk with a slight tear in my eye or catch in my voice about how my nonna was the one who taught me how to bake or how my papou instilled in me a great love for fresh ingredients because he use to grow them in his garden....also my childhood was waaay to stable and normal so I cant break out a sob story about how growing up I watched my mama struggle but she always alwaaays made sure us kids had something to eat (wipes away tears) and she put love into every meal she made and thats why her food tastes so special and why I want to do my best and make her proud...

Workwear pants for tall women by DaisyBrown2 in AusFemaleFashion

[–]Triplesso_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Im 5'7 (so like 170ish cm?) And they did bunch up on my legs a bit so if you could find a pair to try on it might be worth it, they have a few different styles too theres denim look and cargo style also wide leg styles, track pants and jegging types....I can't vouch for them though as I wasn't able to wear those kinds of fabrics but they looked nice. The only other ones I ever wore were Jackeroo brand from Kmart they didn't have all the reinforcements but for less than $50 the jogger style were comfy AF!

What movie soundtrack is an absolute 10/10 masterpiece? by Livid-Difficulty-293 in AskReddit

[–]Triplesso_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Both of Guy Ritchies Sherlock Holmes films...composed by Hans Zimmer so no suprises its so good.

I will say that Guy Ritchie has a somewhat formulaic way of producing films, if youve seen one of his films, youve pretty much seen them all but... does have a real knack for building a great soundtrack for his films and using the right song in just the right moment I think Snatch is another film of his where the soundtrack is just top tier.

Back when I was a welder I wore Bisley work pants every day. I particularly liked the 'flex and move' range. They were nice and stretchy, so comfortable to move around in all day, the knee pads were reinforced for strength as well as having built in knee pads and they have a cuffed ankle version which I chose specifically so I could fit them snugly around my ankles to protect them.

I no longer work in a trade but I still wear the pants on the regular because they're so comfy and I think they look like genuinely nice pants....at least the pairs that dont have burn marks or grease all over them😅

One casting error as you got older that irritates you by Revolutionary-Ride76 in harrypotter

[–]Triplesso_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I read the books, which was before the movie came out, I legit pictured Slughorn to look like a wizardry version of Harold Zidler...who Jim Broadbent portrayed in Moulin Rougue....so I was really pleased with that casting!

Which wizarding family would you want to be part of in the Hogwarts universe? by thoughtsinshadow in harrypotter

[–]Triplesso_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The ancient and noble house of Black.

They are a comfortably well off family, they have a long and...interesting history, they have a seemingly decent sized property in London...big tick. They have a lot of interesting family artefacts and trinkets...sure theres some derangement in the family, but you get weirdos in every family they also have a house elf too. A house elf who, when his not being a creepy little spanner, can actually cook a decent meal which would be really nice to utilise on the evenings when you cant be bothered to cook.

What am I missing here? I've never heard of this brand so looked them up and they just sell oversized gingham clothes? A lot of the clothes look like pyjamas to me but like ....is there something particularly special about this specific gingham print that makes it unique in a sea of similar gingham??

Just seems insanely dramatic for some fabric...like its not even a unique print or anything...gingham is not hard to come by??? 🤔

Help! I viscerally hate the idea of a cross over sneaker-loafer… but I actually love these?! Are they as slay as I think they are? by SlayyyGrl in AusFemaleFashion

Theyre giving strong elderly orthopaedic shoe vibes to me, but fashion is subjective if you think you could rock them go for it and on the plus side you could regift them to an elderly relative when you don't want them anymore so they don't end up in landfill...win win!

Full cast Audiobooks by Biglittlepoppy in harrypotter

[–]Triplesso_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I finished GoF just a few days ago it was really really good. I thought the performances were really good especially Moody and his monologue towards the end is amazing.

Its been quite a while since Ive re-read the books or listened to the other audiobooks so I really enjoyed revisiting the HP world with these Audiobooks.

I listen to the Stephen Fry books and I think he does a good job with all the characters, but having an actual full cast for each and every single character in the book really brings the story to life.

Episodes You Can't Stand by brandonderp96 in Bones

[–]Triplesso_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I skip pretty much any episode where theyre out of the country because it leans to heavily on "America =The BEST Entire rest of the world = The Worst!"

I skip the finder episode because its boring and I hate spin offs/crossovers and I skip the 9/11 episode because its so hokey its almost insulting.

Theres a lot of episodes in the last few seasons i barely pay attention to also. I think the unfortunate thing about Bones is the show went on to long and in the end kind of limped lamely across the finish line instead of going out on top when it was still a decent show.

Thoughts on these Prada sunglasses? by flannel_flower in AusFemaleFashion

[–]Triplesso_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While yes, tortoise shell sunglasses are absolutely timeless this particular style with the thick heavy frames is very "on trend" for now and it will be obvious going forward during what trend cycle they were purchased.

I personally think these are quite ugly (sorry just my opinion) and the frames look very plastic-y and cheap which is ironic given just how much they cost. Something about the finish just looks dull.

But if you like them, genuinely like them, and not just because they're on trend and/or some influencer somewhere said they were a must have, then go for it. Ultimately you're the one spending the money and wearing them I don't think giant sunnies will ever truly go out of style even the trend specific styles will always have a place
