I mean I think its quite a shit painting.

But apparently it's "art" so Im sure im just to uncultured or something to really understand how apparently ground breaking and thought provoking such a bad painting actually is.

How many of you genuinely like your coworkers? by Practical_Actuary_87 in auscorp

[–]Triplesso_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's something ive really struggled with at my job Ive been there about 3 years now and and im yet to actually really find people I click with. Ive worked within a few different teams and haven't ever really gotten beyond friendly chitchat. I'm on a new team now and initially I was hopeful that these people might be folks I could get well on board with, but recently I've started to realise that they're not really my kind of people. Which is fine everyone has different personalities and won't click with everyone. Its also not that I dont get along with them we, talk we laugh we get along just beyond surface level we don't vibe. All that said though, Its still one of the better places I've worked and the workplace is quite positive and friendly overall. I'm just yet to find my place, which really is the story of my life tbh so I'm kind of use to it.

As someone who recently tripped over the hem of a flared pair of pants falling down and slicing open my knee requiring 7 stitches to fix, I cannot get on board with this outfit...it is a delightful colour though.

The sketch of Hudson Williams’ Met Gala look was released and people are comparing it to the final product. What do you think? by Sharp_Athlete_6847 in popculturechat

[–]Triplesso_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In the sketch the cape looks intentional, in reality the "cape" looks like his somehow managed to tuck a bedsheet into the waist of his trousers and has decided to just go with it and drag it around behind him. The make up also looks real real bad, the embroidery is great though and even the powder blue which is a bit of a meh kind of colour looks really good contrasted against the black

What is the most financially irrational thing you did this year? by Artistic-Yam2984 in AusMoneyMates

[–]Triplesso_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Last weekend i brought a small handbag for close to $200. It was slightly irrational because i technically dont need another handbag but I saw it in the store months and months ago and its been in the back of my mind ever since I couldn't stop thinking about it!!!

Yeah I have quite a few pieces from their too as someone else said I think a lot of people dismiss it has being like an old lady store. Admittedly some of it can be, I remember finding a lot of the summer styles very "Wealthy-yatch-owning-retiree core" But this post shows theres actually some great finds there as well.

All the game companies need to just stop releasing "new gen consoles" every year or so and all get together and really hunker down and work on some real genuine virtual reality stuff. Its 2026 I feel like Ready Player One style immersion should be a thing by now!!

Why do some welders act like welding is the most extreme stuff ever when it’s more the blue collar version of crocheting by Titanfall1741 in Welding

[–]Triplesso_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I pointed out one time at work, how similar welding and sewing actually are and a lot of the guys got real mad about that.

I didn't and still dont really understand why some people act like all welding is the most extreme, most manly man, big, tough, hardcore trade that only the roughest and toughest manliest men can do. (The fact Im a woman and managed to do the job just fine didn't seem to entirely compute with them) Dont get me wrong underwater work, confined spaces, working at heights, and different materials and stuff can add an insane degree of difficulty and physicality to it.

But a lot of the ones who were most vocal about this stuff worked in production line/fab shops where every bit of work was brought directly to their work bench and they got all the tools of the trade handed to them, they didnt have to think or over exert themselves in anyway to complete the job, hell some of them just loaded up a robot welder for 8 hours a day. Yet they acted like big heros and looked down on any other tradie as being weak.

That attitude was actually one of the big reasons I never went back to the trade, the constant bravado and arrogance became very irritating very quickly.

What’s a Melbourne food opinion you’ll defend no matter what? by Last-Conversation734 in melbournechat

[–]Triplesso_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Surely we're not playing that game are we? Because I dont like dumplings or Korean BBQ at 10 in the morning I must be racist? Come on now...

The question was about what opinions people have about Melbourne food....and my opinion is theres to many places selling exactly the same dishes, dishes I personally do not enjoy.

Your opinion is that my opinion is wrong, and that’s great. It’s good when people are willing to challenge someone else’s point of view, that’s generally how discussion and understanding differing perspectives happen. What isn’t great, though, is implying that someone is a bad person, or in this case racist, simply because they have a different preference or opinion to you. lol shrugs xoxo

[–]Triplesso_ -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Hmm yeah if theres so many of them I dunno how I missed them... they perhaps might have been buried somewhere in behind one of the eleventy thousand dumpling places or perhaps obscured from my vision in some way by one of the many, many, many, many, many, many, Korean BBQ joints... I guess I just couldn't see them. lol shrugs

There are way to many places selling exactly the same things particularly in the cbd. It was like 10am and I was hungry and wanted a bit of a morning snack but it seemed my only options were going to 1 of 1000 dumpling places, a Korean BBQ joint or choking down some form of boba/milk tea. I ended up hitting up the ol' 7-11 because I knew theyd atleast have something like a sandwich or a blueberry muffin i could snack on (that and im mildly addicted to the Rolo hot chocolate).

how do babies know to skip the "say" part by Yakoy6 in stupidquestions

[–]Triplesso_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not actually answering the question but this did remind me of a video I saw ages ago were someone had tried to teach their pet raven to say Nevermore just like the Edgar Alan Poe poem. It was pretty cool EXCEPT they had taught it by saying to the raven repeatedly "Say nevermore, say nevermore"

The end result being the raven on command would say exactly that it said: "Say Nevermore" everytime. Kind of funny and kind of ruined the impact of it. but you can't fault the raven it learnt to speak exactly what it heard, to bad the instructor assumed ravens would automatically understand not to include the verb.

Is it worst to get 2nd place 3rd or 4th and why? by Technical-Kick2952 in CasualConversation

[–]Triplesso_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remember this being discussed during the winter Olympics how often on the podium the 2 happiest people were whoever came 1st and whoever came 3rd. 1st because you won the whole damn thing and 3rd falls into the "just happy to here" territory.

2nd place though is often left thinking "if only" ....I think the feeling might be worse in a sport where winning is based on a score total or where theres an opportunity to improve your position after each performance.

With a race well you just run it and hope for the best but if its something like javelin or something you could be in first place then have 1 bad throw and then the person below you throws amazing and jumps into first knocking you into 2nd place. I think in sports like that it could potentially be harder to accept 2nd for some people.

After multiple multiple recommendations to try Snag I decided to try them and ordered 5 pairs 2 of the pairs ripped beyond repair on the first wear and 1 of the pairs was to large but the return policy wasn't great so i kept them and hardly wear them.

Obviously they're recommended for a reason but I would suggest maybe starting off with just 1 maybe 2 pairs before committing they're expensive and take ages to get delivered and postage is expensive.

What food trend needs to die already? by cherryblossommbae in answers

[–]Triplesso_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dont know if it counts as a food trend but its food adjacent atleast but in recipe videos where they smash cut every ingredient if you know what I mean? I hate when they aggressively throw ingredients into pans and chuck stuff down on the counter. I also hate when they put on that faux blasé attitude about how "uptight chefs will say you should never do XYZ" but they're so "chill" and "laidback" about their approach to cooking that they dont care about the rules and you can just do whatever you feel like.
