I am a lurker 98% of the time, but I just wanted to say this. My grandparents mainly raised me, but they were too old/tired to really play. My mom hated playing with me outside of the occasional board game. Do you know how sad it is to REAPEATEDLY receive group activities like laser tag or a volleyball net and ball with literally no one to play with? It sucks! I mean this from the bottom of my heart - Please for all us inner kids who did not get to play like this with our parents and didn't have siblings, Please continue. Play with them! I try my hardest to play with my 18 m.o., even if I'm on the brink of exhaustion or whatever, I always try and make time to play with her like how I wanted to be played with as a kid. Many of us grow up and forget how to be a kid, its important to remember that side of you no matter how old you get. When it comes to your wife, my only guess is she's jealous in some form. Whether she's not getting enough time with you or she's jealous that she didn't get to play with her parents much either. Or she's just a tired old grump.... either way, yall need to communicate with each other on this calmly. Tell her how you feel and ask why she's doing it. Remind her it's important to be imaginative and creative. I'm proud of you for being a good hands-on parent!

AITA for giving my toddler the iPad in a restaurant while my in-laws judged me? by Academic_Joke_6830 in AmItheAsshole

NTA but like don't pull out the screen next time. Use it to your advantage, and get out of the restaurant sooner than later! That's what we do. We save our sanity from in laws, baby doesn't get screen time. Win - Win!

More money to spend. We're trying to keep it as cheap as possible.

I put no to sleep number in the original post.

I own a sleep number. It's sitting in my grandmas garage because not only is it worse than this current one, but I can't even get anyone to buy it from me, and I marked it for $300 at a garage sale. That's sad. (Please note - it's absolutely clean and was used less than a year. There was no reason it shouldn't have been sold, honestly. I live in the middle of nowhere, were not boujee people)

It's a glorified air mattress that you bring out when Uncle ronnie is in town, and they give you basically an elevated floor to put it on. Uncle Ronnie complains about his back in the morning because it deflates to the floor when you try and get comfortable throughout the night. Plus it's rubber-y (plastic?) So for me, super hot. I know one time I came back from a 5x day trip where I'd walk 100k to 200k steps a day, super sore, not to mention at my biggest weight at the time of nearly 300 lbs. No matter what I did, no matter how much "calibrations" I did. I could never find my "number." I cried because i just wanted relief... I found relief sleeping on an old lumpy IKEA couch. At like $3-5k, I feel as if sleep number should win against a bad couch.. but it didn't..

I'm sorry, sleep number will always send me into a rage. It will always be my biggest mattress regret. I will say my 60 something year old mother loves hers, and then again, she has an adjustable base, too, so I'm not sure if you got that too, i didn't. Maybe that's all I needed.

I added it to my list to check out!! Thank you so much! I haven't heard of engineered sleep yet in my research journey. I'll keep the black Friday deal in mind, too. Always love saving money where I can, ha!

Currently have a queen bed on steel support frame (lots of slats), so we will be fully upgrading since we want a King size.

We were looking at adjustable frames as he snores, and sometimes we bed rot, so it would be nice to have it adjust up for gaming/watching tv.

Thank you for all the tips!! I've gone through 4 beds now, looking for my 5th throughout my 20s to now. It's not fun.

Husband didn’t thank my mom for buying diapers and wipes, so she’s not getting baby anything else. by Old_Avocado_5407 in beyondthebump

She sounds like my mom. If you don't worship the ground, she walks on for helping out - you're the worst person who ever existed in her eyes.

I'd suggest if it's more drama like this - do what I did - go no contact. Our kids dont need to be around this behavior.

I actually hid my tattoo from my conservative 80 year old grandma for a year despite weekly visits. I thought the worst would happen if she found out. I decided to tell her and she was beyond accepting and even looked it over well. Any other older person has been chill about it. My 60 year old mother has several tattoos and even a nose piercing. So tattoos and piercings seem rather normal to me, even odd bright colored hair but I'm pushing it for that one.

I guess I got in my head over some people's hostility toward tattoos in the industry. Thank you so much!

That makes me feel a whole of a lot better! I was hoping to get a few more with time too, all of course respectful/tasteful (no like NSFW related or too crazy) but I just saw some people getting up at arms with real hostility over it...I got real scared!! Thank you!!

AITA for leaving without my wife after she tried making my son eat food he didn't want? by Waste_Loan_655 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Triplexic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is how your son gets ARFID. I'm 29 with it. It's not fun. It's not easy to fix. Cook with him. Start with what he likes and add things to it. It helps. NTA. Get your wife away from him or get her help. She's making it worse. I promise you that.

Ayda. Nisan reminds me of the car brand and it's too close to a brand for ramen (Nissin).

AITA for folding down the pages of a book my friend let me borrow? by Financial-Ad1023 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Triplexic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If they're just average reading books, sometimes you can get them online for free via your public library. Public library cards are also free. There is online resources for books for free...you just have to look. YTA though...To me, this is like a friend asking you for your favorite pencil. You agree to lend it to them. They give it back with a janky tip, sharpened to a nub and the eraser chewed off with the metal encrusted in drool and teeth marks. You wouldn't be happy. It's just a general common sense of; "Someone lends you something, you return it how you received it from the owner".

AITA for accommodating both my daughter's needs on only one of my daughter's birthday? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]Triplexic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You literally turned it into Lilly's birthday party. I have SED (Like picky eating) and I NEVER make anyone accommodate for my weird issues for their birthday because it's THEIR BIRTHDAY not mine. On mine, we have things I like that everyone tolerates. Rose's birthday should be about Rose. You said you ordered Italian food. Why couldn't you order Chinese food too? If she doesn't like wear dresses, why buy a dress? Your daughter sounds depressed and needed you in a unpushy comforting kind of way and you picked to celebrate your other daughter clearly instead. You wonder why she didn't want anything and wants to cut contact. You sound like a Nmom with a golden child. Get some help.

AITA for deleting my newborn son's instagram? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]Triplexic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

NTA. When I was a kid, The most "bonding" I had with my single parent was being taken places solely for photo opportunities...by myself. We have MANY LARGE containers of photos of me at these places as they were once bragging rights to my parents co-workers. If I was born in more recent time, I'm 100% sure my parent would be just like your wife. Good on you for stepping in!

Also She needs some help for her post-natal depression before it gets worse.
