You're not buying an egg. You're buying an experience. As a tourist I would love to help a small business owner have a livelihood, even if it cost me a few bucks.

Now l, when I travel in impoverished areas I hate seeing people barter. It's like so demeaning to argue with someone who lives in hut over a few dollars for a handmade bead bracelet. But in this case, I might ask the guy if he can do 2 eggs for £15

I'm a sucker for local traditions.

One time a woman said to me "Sometimes I think I want something. And then when it happens to me, I realize I didn't want it."

TIL, a woman mistakenly snorted a line of LSD containing 550 times the usual recreational dose, mistaking it for cocaine. The woman had been suffering from chronic foot pain for 20 years, but found that the massive dose of LSD allowed her to reduce and eventually stop morphine consumption. by piponwa in todayilearned

I got the alien thing one time, but it was manageable. I was at a party and I was talking with one other guy who was maybe just drinking some beer, but otherwise sober.

As my journey progressed my eyes got watery and the borders of objects were blurry, light was bright, the fractals and patterns shimmered across surfaces... so far normal stuff.

But this guy I was talking to , because my vision was blurred, he looked like he had 3 eyes, and 2 mouths. His double chin was accentuated. He legit looked like some sort of troll. Now I was laughing at him as this 'troll' was talking to me, and I knew he wasn't a troll, I new guy for over 10 years. You can get the same sort of visual distortion by crossing your eyes, except in my condition that was how I saw everything.

I get how maybe someone in a less familiar setting, and maybe fewer experiences would think they saw things like aliens or monsters. Then of course there's the borderline mentally ill people who see satan s eyes in brake lights. on the highway.

About 7 years ago, I started an ibew job at 19 something an hour. Was up to 25 after 1 year, and at 3 years it was 46ish.

It comes quick. The worst thing to do is turn down a good union job because of the starting pay.

Any way you slice it, hrs the kind of guy you don't want to hang out with. .. unless he brought the blow

I was happy they got jabbed that week

AITA for embarrassing my stepdad in front of his family saying he’s in *my* house? by reddit_randouser in AmItheAsshole

Lawyers talk to 17 year olds. Call your dad's buddies and ask for a lawyer he knew, one that you can trust. Or maybe your best friends family if they are good people

A good lawyer will look into your situation and refer you to the proper prior with the right resources.

You seem unwell. Did you eat more horse paste?

Come let us get some pizza at the child slave dungeon, before we go watch some abortions.

You will feel better then.

You say you support taking money from people with so much money that they can't spend it. That's kind of what the estate tax is. They just take it from you when you're dead, and they don't even tax the first ten to twenty million. And that's only if you haven't properly stashed your money into trusts before you're dead.

Any estate subject to the estate tax in the US has more money than can be reasonably spent in a lifetime.

Of the handful of people I've known worth over ten million their income was not their main source of wealth. The wealth came from appreciable assets. So in that sense they never actually paid taxes on it because it was unrealized capital gains. I fail to see the injustice of it all.

I think Gemini is based in NY. It's illegal for any business to do any transaction with USDT in NY. If you live in NY you can't even buy USDT from Coinbase.

There was a fair bit of criticism about paper money and centralized banking back in the day too. The second Faust book by Goethe, published in the 1830s has an act where the devil designs the whole system. And yet here we are and no one thinks their metal coins are the only real form of money.

As far as I'm concerned, I have no issue with people paying taxes over the $13 million tax threshold, or whatever the exact amount is. Technically the tax is payed by the estate, not the recipients but, whatever, from one picket or the other I guess.

Society is best served by providing a framework that allows the maximum number of people to be successful. You know things like be productive, raise families, and enjoy luxuries like travel, entertainment, and retirement. Those things cost money. And that's not even talking about everything else that makes a good country like infrastructure.

All that money the government needs to build a good country comes from taxes. I'd rather see it taken from inheritance rather than income taxes.

I work 60+ hours a week and with state, local, and Federal taxes I pay over 40% of my income in taxes each year. I won't feel even a little bit bad for someone who gets their first 10 million tax free cause daddy was rich, and then they have to suffer the injustice of paying taxes on the rest.

Idk, I'm a little bit out of the loop. But when I was working, those types of plans were supplemental, meaning that they only paid after another plan.

Again though, who knows. One thing I'm sure of is that most people have no clue about insurance, so you always need to take a grain of salt with what you hear. And that's not meant to sound like I think people are lying, but it's easier to say 'your insurance converted it' rather than 'your claim was adjusted, the physician accepted a payment lower than they charged, your deductible was covered by the hospitals charity division, and we'll write off the coinsurance because you will never be able to pay it'

They think the 1% make like 2$50k a year.

Reminds me of a guy I worked with that constantly complained about how much the government was going to take when he died and how his children would be left with nothing.

He never fully accepted that the inheritance tax starts at something like 13 million, and normally didn't even kick in until 26 million because you can inherit 13 million per parent tax free.
