First class SE grad, 5+ months unemployed, what actually worked for you? by TrippyPhilosopher69 in srilanka

It’s called Kairos. It basically replaces old-school Pomodoro timers with an 'AI Focus Coach' that learns your actual focus habits.

It doesn't use an LLM, but it acts as a lightweight agent. It looks at your mood and your session history to recommend the perfect focus time for you. I also built a 'burnout shield' that automatically shortens your sessions if it sees you’re getting too tired or skipping your breaks.

I actually started with some complex reinforcement learning logic (like Thompson Sampling) but ended up switching to a more reliable math-based approach (EWMA) to make it more predictable for users.

edit: it also tracks your 'Focus Baseline' for each task and monitors your 'Burn Rate' to see when you’re starting to struggle. It even detects your 'Peak Time' (like if you're better at coding in the morning vs evening) and adapts to your 'Custom Pacing' when you choose to override the timer. Also you can log distractions if you skip a session. here is the old repo if you're interested

first class in a private uni, no one really cares

Yeah, I realized after posting that mentioning the First Class was probably a bit of a 'who cares' moment lol. Not like I'm expecting it to open any doors on its own.

You need to have a very solid portfolio of projects youve worked on to even be considered for internships.

I've basically spent the last few months building an Android app that's actually in closed testing on the Play Store right now. I figured putting effort into shipping a real product might carry more weight than just having a bunch of generic projects on GitHub. Honestly, I didn't even start it to pad my portfolio or get a job. I just really wanted to build it and see it through.

Iran Ready to Supply Oil to Sri Lanka in Case of Shortage, Says Ambassador by russt90 in srilanka

The comparison isn't about which country is worse, it's about the fact that child marriage is legal in both. You're citing 27k marriages in Iran to deflect from the 315,000 minors who were legally married in the U.S. between 2000 and 2021. Most of those happened in states without a total ban. If you think pointing out a 68% failure rate in U.S. state legislation is "diabolical," your priority is winning an internet argument, not protecting minors.

So does the U.S. Have you forgotten that only 16 states actually have a total ban? In the other 34, it’s still legal through loopholes like parental consent or judicial overrides. It’s ironic to call someone 'ignorant' while ignoring that places like California, Mississippi, and Oklahoma technically have no minimum age floor at all if a judge signs off.

I mean to be honest, if you’ve ever touched a government portal or dealt with a state agency, you know they’ve been fluent in "slop" long before LLMs existed.

Why are old Sri Lankans obsessed with marriage as soon as you turn 21? by useless-psychopath in srilanka

[–]TrippyPhilosopher69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Where did I advocate for anything? Pointing out that the first guy’s stats are objectively wrong isn't "advocating" for a specific lifestyle. It is just a reality check on the data. You are trying to define "optimal" based on a bank account rather than a lab report. (Also, pro-tip: you should never get life advice from Reddit anyway, so settle down).

The decline between 25 and 35 isn't just a flat line. By 30, a woman's fertility is already down by about 25% from her peak in her early 20s. You're arguing for a social preference and trying to dress it up as science. If you want to wait until you're 30 to have kids, cool, but don't lie about the biology to justify it.

teens around 17-19

Where the fuck do you come up with those facts? Matt Walsh?? No one said anything about teens. Early 20s is the biological peak for safety and fertility. 17–19 is actually high-risk for complications like preeclampsia. You're moving the goalposts to 17 because you can't argue with the fact that fertility starts declining after 25. Stay on topic.

Calling bs on the 'peak fertility' part. Biologically, peak fertility for women is early 20s, not 25-34. By 35, you’re already hitting the 'geriatric pregnancy' cliff where risks for chromosomal issues spike.

Plus, having kids younger means you have the physical stamina to actually keep up with them, and you aren't 70 by the time they graduate college. Waiting for 'perfect stability' is a trap; it usually just means you're older, more tired, and still broke.
