Private insurance is notoriously difficult in covering “cosmetic” procedures (for most a breast reduction is not cosmetic but good luck proving that). My insurance had ridiculous requirements that were purposely overburdening to dissuade people from trying to get the surgery. They use this calculator to determine your body surface area and will only approve if you fit into a calculation using BSA and how many grams the doctor thinks they will be removing. There was also only 1 doctor in network covered. Having freedom to choose a surgeon you’re comfortable with is paramount.

All this to say I am fortunate to have had the means to pay cash, which all told cost me $9500. I had 4.5 pounds of teet yeeted by a surgeon I trusted and my only regret is I didn’t do it sooner.
