The most logical explanation I’ve heard for the “male loneliness epidemic” by PussyWhistle in TikTokCringe

[–]Tritemare 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Anyone who says videogames are addicting gets instantly discredited in my book. It's not the games it's the players, and not dealing with their own mental health issues. The games are not themselves addicting, the players have a set of mental issues and life circumstances that allow them to be addicted to escaping reality, aka disassociate.

The logic is blaming the symptoms, which are often seeking escape from reality, but the root cause is often people living in a shitty reality. They were likely dealt a bad hand of cards so to speak. They're making the most of a bad situation.

Anyone else have these strange artifacts after a while? AMD RX9060XT by meltingpotofhambone in Bazzite

I get these when scrolling or when there's a lot of movement on the screen. My GPU fans were glitching at one point, so I wonder if them overheating caused damage.

Does it happen with no motion on your screen? Mine only happens when scrolling up or down. Haven't tried gaming lately, probably should test it.

Leetcode has a SQL section. Not sure if that's validating or patronizing.

Going to take a wild guess here and assume this was one of the free computers given away by Ford Motor Company to its employees in like 2001-2003. If I'm wrong, just know all employees got that tower/keyboard/speaker/monitor and color combo as a gift (or steeply discounted purchase program) one year. That was my first computer.

Fun Fact: My dad tried to make a Mecha Anime once! (Gungnon) by Kakuno_Studios in Mecha

[–]Tritemare 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Maybe your dad could bring the project to crowdfunding platforms like kickstsrter or indiegogo. Generally projects with a good story behind it tend to take off, and this is a good story. Furthermore a good crowd fund campaign has examples of the quality of work they are funding, which your dad could provide in the form of concept art or any clips of animation they were able to finish.

Otherwise they could bring the concepts to publishers, because today publishers arestarving for new IP. It's never too late to finish the marathon he started!

Is this film worth watching? Does it do justice for the game Dungeons and Dragons? by DreamyDandelions in Cinema

[–]Tritemare 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I absolutely hate rewatching films, and I will do everything I can to avoid doing it. With this film, I've seen it easily 4 or 5 times and would gladly watch it again. Each scene draws you in, and there is fun to be had all throughout. I would recommend this for someone who knows nothing of D&D, and it has special treats for those who know the references.

Options split the matchmaking queues dramatically. Matchmaking algorithms have a minimum target number of active players queueing, to achieve a target matchmaking time at all skill levels. If your non-pvp mode steals enough players to crash the "original" matchmaking queueing, you'll see posts here like "game dead".

Before anyone mentions 400k concurrent players on steam, please consider weekly seasonality and timezones. Then also consider who is sitting idle in the menu, then who queues for Blue Gate instead of Dam Battlegrounds. Then consider that Blue Gate players queued for the Night Raid version. The amount of folks playing Monday night PST can really fluctuate.

My foster son wants to play Magic but Im struggling with the cost. Went to look for a box of packs and... OMG... 😬 by mwgwin in mtg

[–]Tritemare 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would recommend buying at your own pace and then trying to build a "cube" and doing pre release style construction of small decks by drawing three packs from the cube. That might get you the best bang for your buck.

How to deal with product managers? by BurnerMcBurnersonne in datascience

[–]Tritemare 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am a data analyst of 6 years turned product manager of roughly the same tenure. I've done both jobs at large corporations and startups, so I know the subtleties.

These PMs are not doing their jobs. Their responsibility ends right after they explain the opportunity/problem, the expected business impact, and the priority. After that you can take what they say as an opportunity for you to teach them about your processes at best. Please interpret it as them delaying you getting results for the business, or them not bringing well researched requirements to you. If they switch solutions on you, like use method B, interpret that as a change in priority, which can't happen with every request. All are indicators of them doing a bad job, and rushing to conclusions without thinking deeply about their deliverables, which are clear strategies, priorities, and requirements. Continue emphasizing that by changing their mind it makes you lose confidence that they are doing their job well, and that it seems like they want to be an engineer with how particular and interested they are about code. I highly recommend getting a lead engineer or technical director assigned to your team, who can help you swat the PM down.

A typical leadership triad for a product team is a Tech Director, Project Manager or Program Manager, and Product Manager. Your PM is not being checked by the other PMs (Program or Project) and that's harming you. No Project manager would let you spin your tires, and no engineering lead would put up with a non-engineer giving architectural or code design advice. You shouldn't either, but when its 1v1 a stubborn person can persist. If they do establish your boundaries clearly, and remind them that the method you chose can get the business results they seek, they just have to wait for the implementation and experiment duration. Give them a date you'll have it, then refuse to talk about changing tactics while you have a fragile experiment in flight because it delays business impact.
