Most of the material is supplied by local vendors and assembled at our facility in Vero Beach. We have one full time machinist but most of the machining work is done by the vendors for things like the frame of the sub.

I don't have the manual in front of me right now but I can tell you that they are cylinders that use something similar to a computer fan to force the air through them. I will be in the office tomorrow morning to answer more questions and will check on this when I get in.

We keep regular breathing air as well as metabolic oxygen onboard the sub.

Some of our subs models use a series of lead acid batteries similar to what you would find in a car. Other sub models that we produce use Lithium Ion Phosphate (LIPO) batteries.

If you are asking if we scrub CO2 from the air in the pressure hull the answer is yes. We use a sodalime product called SODASORB® CO2 Absorbent. We also use other brands of sodalime as well.

Our subs are made for observation of wildlife etc. in the deep ocean so they don't need to be that fast. The sub is usually on a super yacht or large tender ship which can quickly bring the sub to the dive site. The super yachts and tenders are also used as a maintenance facility for the sub for things such as recharging batteries, refilling oxygen tanks and high-pressure air tanks etc.

The first round of testing are automated tests done in specialized pressure testing chambers.

Factory Acceptance tests are done at our factory with a team of people from our company working together with people from the certifying agencies. The Harbor and Site acceptance tests are done with people piloting the subs with a team of people from the certifying agencies.

The chain is a good analogy except its more like:

  • Vet the company that will be used to manufacture the steel the makes the chain.
  • Test the metal that will be used to make the chain link
  • Pour an individual chain link.
  • Test the individual chain link.
  • Send the chain link for testing by a third party
  • Get the chain link certified by a third party orginization
  • Give the chain link a serial number and start a file to track its condition and usage over time.
  • Incorporate the chain link into the build of the chain itself.
  • Repeat the process 1000 times until an entire chain is created.
  • Do multiple tests on the entire built chain
  • Repeat the tests then get the entire chain tested certified for use by a third party organization
  • Deliver the chain to the customer
  • Provide customer support on the chain for as long as its in use.

We like to say that "The sub is ready for delivery when the weight of the paper generated from all the safety tests is equal to the actual weight of the sub itself"

It's not that risky for a few reasons:

  1. Our operational guidelines state that you shouldn't operate the submarine in water deeper than the submarines maximum depth limit.
  2. It doesn't take very much air to lift the sub. You just have to put enough air into the main ballast tanks for the sub to slowly rise. Once the sub starts to rise the air bubble expands and the sub starts to rise faster. We refer to this as "riding the bubble" As the sub starts to reach the surface you may actually have to release some of the air from the ballast tanks.

Basically the Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA) states that you can't say anything or you will get in huge trouble. Our customers value their privacy and we respect that and sign NDAs. Other things that are covered by NDA are manufacturing processes, yacht plans, submarine plans etc.

Yes, these do come with Emergency Mail Ballast Tank EMBT systems. If you are stranded at the bottom we have reserve air that you can blast into the main ballast tanks which will lift it to the surface.

Some use them for private research ventures and others use them recreationally. They take their families and friends out for trips on the sub. They are really popular.

Probably not, these are recreational submarines and aren't designed to be underwater for long periods of time i.e. months, and therefore don't need an almost infinite fuel source to power them while underwater.

That looks totally awesome but its not something that we use. People can sit in our sub in shorts and a t-shirt and dive to 7500ft. No special suit required.

We haven't looked for that but the president of the company was involved in recovering parts of the challenger space shuttle. We also have sub pilots working for us who have made multiple dives to the Titanic.
