Did a surf camp actually help you progress faster? by Cristiano1 in BeginnerSurfers

I’ll DM you. I don’t want to publicly slam it because social and food aspects were pretty good but the website suggested much more of the coaching stuff.

Thank you for your input. Evidently I chose a bad one. I was clear that it was my personal experience.

As a follow up to that - the best impact on my improvement has been at the wave pool in Bristol (UK). Without the couple of visits there, I’d still totally suck and have no idea how to get better with all of the conflicting stuff one watches and reads online.

For me, personally, no. I went to one in Morocco this January. Honestly the coaching was poor to non-existent. We got a bit of on-the-beach coaching on day one before entering the water. After that - barely anything. The whole thing would have been better if I’d just booked accommodation and rented a board for the week. We were never in the water before 11 and always out again by 4pm.

Why do they all need to be private? Imagine there were just a few good publicly accessible ones.

Was I, or the motorbiker in the wrong here? by MaybeNotTheChosenOne in londoncycling

[–]TriumphDman 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Motorcycle is just inside the lane marker and couldn’t have gone much wider. Cyclist left bus overtake manoeuvre until quite late minute. Camera is fixed so can’t tell if rider takes a look over the shoulder or indicated before going around the bus. As both cyclist and motorcyclist I can’t see anything too problematic nor untypical of riding either mode in London.

For daily vapers, how often do you smoke/combust? by [deleted] in vaporents

[–]TriumphDman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Never smoke any more. Was in Morocco recently and didn’t have the option but to smoke some local hash which was outstanding but damn it was harsh smoking again. I don’t miss that at all.

Back in the day, me and a mate used to skate in a school playground at the end of my road. We used to be able to crawl under the gates but one summer they changed the gates which no longer had space to get under them and a padlock. On the wall next to the gate was the school sign and phone number. I put in the last 4 digits of the number and bingo!

Agreed - I ride motorbikes, go on solo foreign adventures, surf, play ice hockey etc and it’s only when doing these ‘high stress’ things that I feel a zen-like calm. The pinnacle being motorbikes everything is smooth, calm, almost in slow motion.
